About The Job

Project Title:

Project Title Inclusive Employment Opportunities for Adults with High Support Needs at SUSS.

Project Overview:

This project explores meaningful work and community participation opportunities for adults with high support needs. The study involves collaboration with schools, departments, and community organizations to identify suitable job tasks and mini-projects that can be completed by adults with disabilities while contributing to the university community.

What You Will Be Doing

The Research Assistant will support the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the project. Key responsibilities include:

Project Coordination and Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with SUSS schools, departments, and administrative units to identify suitable job tasks and mini-projects for adults with high support needs.
  • Work with social service agencies and community partners to coordinate project activities and participant involvement.
  • Organise project logistics, including scheduling, communication, venue arrangements, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate communication between SUSS departments, participating organizations, and social service agencies.

Development of Work Opportunities

  • Identify and coordinate meaningful work tasks such as:
  • Packing conference or event materials
  • Organising storerooms and supplies
  • Shredding non-confidential documents
  • Simple administrative and operational tasks
  • Other suitable project-based assignments within SUSS
  • Assist in matching participants to appropriate tasks based on their interests, strengths, and support needs.

Research Activities

  • Assist in planning and conducting focus group discussions (FGDs), interviews, and surveys.
  • Support data entry, basic data analysis, and preparation of research findings.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist with the preparation of research materials.

Administrative Support

  • Coordinate the distribution and collection of surveys.
  • Manage project documentation and records.
  • Assist with the disbursement and tracking of participant vouchers and reimbursements.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, progress updates, and project reports.
  • Support the preparation of final project reports and presentations.

Report Writing and Knowledge Dissemination

  • Assist in drafting interim and final reports.
  • Contribute to presentations, publications, and dissemination materials arising from the project.
  • Prepare summaries and recommendations for stakeholders.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Disability Studies, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys, or research activities would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
