Job summary

The Lee Lab at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, National University of Singapore, invites applications for a Research Assistant. You will support RNA biology and cellular metabolism studies under the PI and team.

Responsibilities include molecular biology experiments, lab setup, and maintaining records. Prior experience in RNA-related methods is welcome but not required; strong curiosity and collaboration are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field.
• Prior research experience in molecular biology or RNA biology is welcome but not required.
• Hands-on experience in cell culture, PCR/qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, cloning, microscopy, or CRISPR-based editing would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct molecular and cell biology experiments related to RNA biology and metabolism.
• Perform techniques such as cell culture, RNA/DNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, cloning, Western blotting, reporter assays, CRISPR/Cas editing, and perturbation studies.
• Investigate ALAS1 expression, localisation, and its relation to porphyrin levels and RNA regulation.
• Support fluorescence and confocal microscopy, biochemical assays, and RNA–protein interactions.
• Prepare samples for RNA sequencing, transcriptomics, RNA structure profiling, metabolomics, and downstream analyses.
• Maintain accurate records, assist data analysis, and help optimise protocols.
• Conduct literature reviews and contribute to reports and manuscripts.
