Job summary

The National University of Singapore's Zhang Lab is seeking a highly organized Research Assistant to establish and run day-to-day operations of a newly formed cancer genomics lab. You will help set up workflows, maintain records, and ensure safety and compliance while performing basic molecular and cellular experiments.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, you will coordinate procurement, manage lab stocks, assist with cell culture and sequencing workflows, and contribute to ecDNA and cancer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related discipline.
• Experience in laboratory administration, operations, procurement or setup preferred.
• Hands-on mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques required.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety and best practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and accurate record-keeping.
• Able to communicate with vendors and core facilities.
• Independent worker with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Interest in ecDNA biology and cancer genomics desirable.
• Willing to use AI tools while maintaining independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the new lab, manage organization, safety, and workflows.
• Coordinate procurement, quotations, ordering reagents and equipment.
• Support safety, biosafety, compliance, waste management and documentation.
• Coordinate maintenance of lab equipment and shared resources.
• Organize cell lines, samples and experimental records.
• Perform mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology experiments.
• Support fluorescence imaging and sequencing sample prep workflows.
• Assist with ecDNA biology and cancer genomics research projects.
