Job summary

HOYA Electronics Singapore is seeking a Development Engineer to join the Development team in our mask blank factory. You will work on pilot line launches, develop deposition processes for high yield, and coordinate with R&D for new product setups.

You will analyze thin film properties, refine process parameters, and create manufacturing specifications to enable mass production with controlled parameters.

Qualifications

• Degree in Material Science, Engineering or related field.
• 2 years of semiconductor industry experience or related roles.
• Proficiency with data analysis and DOE/ SPC tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate new product and equipment qualification; support transfer to mass production with controlled parameters.
• Develop and optimize scalable manufacturing processes for mass production and yield improvements.
• Analyze factors affecting thin film properties during sputter deposition and refine process parameters.

Get to Know the Role

We are seeking a Development Engineer to join the Development team in our mask blank factory. Our team focuses on pilot line launching for new products and technology. As a development engineer, you will participate in the development of deposition processes that focus on product transfer, yield, quality, and throughput improvements. We have a strong emphasis on statistics-driven methods for experimental design and data analysis. You will be coordinating with the R&D team at our facility in Nagasaka, Japan, to provide engineering support for all activities and new product setup.

• Coordinate new product and equipment qualification while developing fabrication stages and managing the transfer of qualified products into mass production with controlled parameters
• Develop and optimize scalable manufacturing processes for mass production, including yield improvement measures and robust process control techniques
• Analyze factors affecting thin film properties in sputter deposition and refine process parameters, limits, and monitoring methods to achieve high product yield
• Create and maintain detailed specifications and manufacturing instructions across all stages of production

Skills and Competencies Profile

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Material Science, Engineering, or any related field.
• 2 years of relevant working experience in the semiconductor industry, or prior experience in related roles.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Understanding of thin film metallurgy and deposition processes and equipment (ion beam deposition, PVD, CVD)
• Experience in demonstrating statistical skills in data analysis, good knowledge of JMP, Minitab, DOE, and SPC are preferred
• Experience with the following tools: Ellipsometer, X-ray reflectometry, SEM and EDX
• Experience in a quality certified environment, i.e. ISO9001, 5S, 8D, Lean Six Sigma

Soft Skills:

• Able to work independently with initiative and strong accountability
• Strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and familiarity with quality inspection procedures

Additional Information

• Able to work in a cleanroom environment and perform overtime as and when necessary
