Elsevier, a global information analytics company, seeks a Publishing Consultant to support Asia-Pacific journals on Digital Commons. The role balances client relationship management with technical problem solving, often guiding editors through submission workflows in Mandarin.

The position is fully remote, spanning Cairo, Amsterdam, Singapore, and the US. It offers learning opportunities and requires independence, cross-time-zone collaboration, and curiosity about AI tools in editorial workflows.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Mandarin and English, written and spoken, able to move between informal client conversations and formal communication.
• Experience in publishing/editorial is advantageous.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, cross-time-zone environment with strong self-management and communication about workload.
• Technical aptitude and willingness to learn: HTML/CSS helpful, not required but beneficial.
• Strong written English for professional correspondence and escalation judgment when needed.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new university and institutional clients, building Digital Commons repositories.
• Serve as a trusted point of contact for editors and librarians on issues or strategy questions.
• Train non-technical academic staff on unfamiliar tools and systems with patience and clarity.
• Partner with a Strategic Advisor on complex questions: journal indexing, editorial policy, competitive positioning.
• Build working proficiency in HTML/CSS troubleshooting to support day-to-day client needs.
