Job summary

Binance is seeking Java Backend Engineers focused on performance engineering to join our distributed backend systems team in Singapore. You will work on JVM internals, tuning garbage collection, profiling, and optimizing middleware and databases for large-scale workloads.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Docker and Kubernetes, and are passionate about building reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Strong Java programming with solid understanding of JVM internals and multithreading.
• Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks through profiling, tracing and GC tuning.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot and microservice architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Linux in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize performance of large-scale Java applications across app, middleware, JVM and infra layers.
• Investigate production performance issues, identify root causes via profiling, tracing and code analysis.
• Design and execute performance validation for distributed systems focusing on throughput, latency and scalability.
• Improve Java runtime performance through JVM tuning, GC optimization, thread analysis and memory leak investigation.
• Optimize databases and middleware such as MySQL, Redis, Kafka and other distributed components.
• Build internal platforms and automation tools for performance testing, diagnostics and observability.
• Collaborate with backend engineers and DevOps to improve reliability and production readiness.
• Review Java code for performance risks and leverage AI-assisted tooling to improve development efficiency.
