Job description

Job Title: Regional Lead, APAC – Marine Services

Department: Marine Services

Responsible to: Regional Director, APAC

Role Purpose

To lead, drive and manage the Marine Services business to deliver the strategy and adopt and grow it where and when necessary. Delivering technical leadership to ensure standardisation and consistency with the business area globally, this role involves providing leadership and guidance to a team of highly skilled Master Mariners and Marine Technical personnel covering work scopes related to Marine Advisory, Marine Assurance and Mission Critical Systems. Your main location will be in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur but will also be expected to support and manage Marine Services personnel in the Asia Pacific Region. To lead and coordinate the global business development initiatives within the business area, your role will be crucial in supporting the senior management in developing the company portfolio and team within the Region.

Responsibilities

•To be responsible/accountable for the profitability of the Marine Services business stream in the APAC region.

•Identify, develop and implement long and short‑term strategic plans in support of growth within Marine Services.

•To participate and coordinate the regional business development initiatives within Marine Services, by building and maintaining relationships with key clients, identifying and following up business opportunities whilst liaising with the business stream director, local/regional management and the senior management team.

•Ensure that Marine Services delivers a standardised and consistent product.

•To oversee the delivery and quality of our services within Marine Services, ensuring projects are delivered to the high standards expected by GM and our clients.

•Collaborate with local managers and business stream leads to create a cohesive team.

•Assist local managers in the identification and selection of suitable staff to grow the business in line with the company’s objectives, looking at resource allocation and workload forecasting.

•Work closely with other business stream leaders from across the business to develop GM’s overall capability, particularly in areas where services are complimentary or where cross‑selling is possible.

•Participate in industry conferences, working groups and committees where and when appropriate.

•Ensure that the global HSEQ policies are aligned with the business area objectives and effectively executed.

•Provide support and guidance with the development of proposals and tenders in liaison with the local managers and project managers.

•Engagement on global projects with our project teams, undertaking project technical roles, including supervising and quality assurance, where appropriate.

•Actively being engaged in establishing company strategies, targets and market presence in the relevant business area.

•Contribute to the financial targets set for the business stream in collaboration with regional management or operational leads.

•Lead and develop your department to improve GM’s capability and competitiveness for:
- Marine Assurance including Vessel OVIDs, CMIDS, and Marine suitability and safety surveys.
- DP marine assurance activities including the attendance and coordination of annual DP trials, FMEA’s and FMECAs, technical DP incident investigations, DP gap analysis, DP operations manuals, CAMO and ASOG.
- Hands‑On Rig Moving
- MWS Rig Moving
- Supervision during marine operations across a variety of positions such as Vessel Lead, Marine Lead, Dive Lead, HSE
- Lead o Quantitative and qualitative risk analysis of offshore operations
- Growing and maintaining a subcontractor database with suitable candidates for work undertaken through the APAC office, supporting other business streams, e.g. MWS T& I, with qualified personnel for vessel suitability surveys, and attending warranted operations (e.g. sailaways)

- Writing comprehensive and detailed technical reports for jobs
- Carrying out technical and procedural reviews
- Carrying out onshore and offshore attendances and vessel surveying of local and international projects
- Addressing client needs and management of client expectations, defining Work scope and capturing variations on ongoing projects as well as general ‘client relationship’ management

•Key Accountabilities for your role will be:
- Liaison with other GM offices worldwide, cooperating with your peers in other entities.
- Marketing our business to new and existing clients with a view to expand the client base as well as expand on existing business opportunities with an aim to sustain and grow our operations in the APAC region.
- Overall Resourcing plan for your department.
- Developing technical and operational capabilities of staff and encourage continual professional development including training, mentoring and coaching the members of your department while maintaining quality of work and meeting target profit margins.
- Improve your department’s performance and impact on the company’s NWC and cash flow by ensuring your department’s correct use of business management system, by reducing WIP and reducing time taken for invoice review and approval process, by timely collection of invoice payments and by resolving client disputes.
- Contributing to the Budget and performance forecasting on a regular basis as well achieving the set targets for profitability.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required

•An unlimited Master Mariner’s certificate of competency.

•Sea‑going experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, with understanding in Dynamic Positioning, Marine Engineering, Marine Operations, anchor handling, rig moving, tow, and/or supply operations.

•SMS auditing experience.

•Relevant suitable industry experience within discipline.

•Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to collaborate and influence at all stakeholder levels.

•Ability to integrate individuals into a team.

•Good business acumen and commercial awareness, with a strong focus on achieving results and meeting agreed set targets and KPI’s.

•Ability to communicate strategy aligned with the global vision of the company.

•To act within the powers of their role, leading by example and following GM ethics and company values.

•To be a confident self‑starter who works proactively.

•To be able to demonstrate great attention to detail.

•Skills in technical reporting and excellent marketing skills.
