Job summary

Public Service Division is seeking a Senior/Assistant Engineer in Development & Building Control (Rail) to help regulate railway protection zones, corridors and road safety areas. You will review designs, perform risk assessments, and verify construction methods for rail and road projects.

You will collaborate with developers, consultants, and contractors, and liaise with LTA planners and engineers to ensure safety and compliance of rail and road systems today and for future rapid transit

Qualifications

Knowledge in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Resourceful and analytical with ability to thrive in demanding environment.
Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and keen to learn.
Demonstrates initiative and has a keen interest in developing professional skills.
Able to work independently whilst being a strong team player with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
Candidates with relevant experience in civil engineering design and supervision of construction works will have an advantage.

Responsibilities

Regulate development and building works within railway protection zones, railway corridors, and road structure safety zones.
Review the design of temporary and permanent works affecting rail, road structures and public streets.
Conduct engineering risk assessments and analyses, evaluate construction methodologies and instrumentation proposals.
Review geotechnical and structural instrumentation data.
Support site inspections to verify construction and engineering works comply with approved method statements and technical requirements.
Collaborate with developers, their consultants, and contractors; coordinate with LTA architects, planners, and engineers on projects affecting rail and road systems.
