Job summary

GROUND LABS PTE. LTD. is seeking a visionary and hands-on Quality Engineering Lead to guide our established QA team from the Singapore head office. You will own end-to-end quality strategy across desktop, on-premise, and SaaS cloud initiatives, mentoring engineers and coordinating with external partners.

You will drive test automation, modern infrastructure, and performance engineering while acting as a technical liaison to vendors. A strong blend of coding and testing leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA or software engineering experience, incl. desktop/on-premise and SaaS

Job description

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Quality Engineering Lead to guide our established quality engineering team, based in our head office in Singapore. Our subsidiary offices are in Australia, Ireland, and the United States. Reporting directly to the CTO, this is a critical role where you will own the end-to-end quality strategy and reliability across our entire suite of products, which primarily consists of desktop and on-premise solutions. Crucially, you will also bring deep SaaS expertise to the team to lead testing, infrastructure, and health monitoring for our cloud-based initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong programming fundamentals with deep expertise in test automation, modern infrastructure, and performance engineering to mentor and lead the team to success, while seamlessly acting as a technical bridge to our external vendors and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead and mentor our established quality engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership.

• Define the team's engineering standards and implement an end-to-end quality assurance strategy across all product lines, moving beyond manual testing to a "quality-as-code" mindset.

Test Automation & Architecture

• Lead the hands-on, end-to-end test automation of our product portfolio, designing robust frameworks for both our core applications and our SaaS frontend (React) and backend (Golang/C++) services.

• Drive the technical vision for quality, writing clean, maintainable code to ensure high coverage across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.

• Leverage cloud technologies to deploy cost-effective and scalable QA environments and improve the velocity of the testing processes.

Cloud Infrastructure & SaaS Monitoring

• Collaborate closely with the dedicated DevOps team to integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.

• Leverage modern infrastructure and Docker to create epoxy, containerized test environments that mirror production, bringing critical SaaS knowledge to proactively monitor the live health of our cloud applications.

Software Resilience & Reliability

• Champion software resilience by rigorously testing API contracts, reliability, and performance under load.

• Design and execute performance, scalability, and stress tests to ensure our evolving SaaS platforms and on-premise solutions can handle projected growth.

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Act as a key technical liaison, speaking comfortably to vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders to manage expectations and drive technical integrations.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Software Engineers to understand requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans.

Requirements

• - 5+ years of Quality Assurance or Software Engineering experience. While you will oversee desktop and on-premise products, a deep understanding of SaaS applications and modern cloud architectures is strictly required.
• - Proven experience in leading and mentoring established engineering teams.
• - Must be a self-starter and a critical thinker who enjoys breaking things to make them stronger, capable of navigating ambiguity to deliver results.
• - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical risks and quality metrics to the wider team and effectively manage vendor relationships.

Technical Skills

• Strong coding skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Golang, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript/React).
• Deep experience building automation frameworks from the ground up using tools like Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or language-specific libraries.
• Hands-on experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid experience testing RESTful or gRPC APIs, including performance profiling using tools like k6, JMeter, or similar.
• Deep understanding of integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) to ensure system resilience.
• Experience specifically testing applications written in Golang.
