Job summary

JL GROUP ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a lead procurement professional to source suppliers for machinery components, evaluate quotes, and negotiate supply agreements.

You will interpret BOMs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and implement dual-sourcing to mitigate material risks. The role requires strong English and Mandarin communication, plus at least a diploma/degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC and relevant purchasing experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC or an equivalent discipline.
• Relevant purchasing experience within machinery or manufacturing sectors.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin to liaise with Mandarin-speaking suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate suppliers for direct and indirect materials to expand vendor base and meet project needs.
• Analyse supplier quotes to deliver cost assessments and lead cost-reduction initiatives.
• Develop and negotiate supply agreements covering pricing, MOQs, lead times, payment terms and SLAs.
• Interpret drawings, CAD models and BOMs to analyse contract scopes and provide cost data.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, R&D, production planning and QA on VE/VA initiatives, vendor audits, CAPA to improve quality and supplier performance.
• Establish dual-sourcing and localised backup strategies to mitigate supply risks.
• Maintain procurement records using ERP systems (SAP MM, Oracle, or local MRP).
• Perform other ad-hoc procurement duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Lead supplier sourcing and procurement to support machinery sector projects and production. Collaborate cross-functionally to optimise costs, manage contracts, and ensure quality compliance.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate suppliers for direct and indirect materials, including specialised mechanical parts, raw metals, electrical components, castings, and forgings to expand the vendor base and meet project and production needs
• Analyse supplier quotes to deliver accurate cost assessments and lead cost-reduction initiatives ensuring competitive pricing
• Develop and negotiate supply agreements covering pricing, Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), lead times, payment terms, and service level agreements (SLAs) to secure favourable contract terms
• Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and Bills of Materials (BOM) to analyse sales contract scopes and provide BOM cost data to management for project costing support
• Collaborate with Engineering, Unit Sales, R&D, production planning, and Quality Assurance teams on Value Engineering (VE/VA) initiatives, vendor audits, and Corrective Action Plans (CAPA) to improve product quality and supplier performance
• Establish dual-sourcing and localised backup strategies to mitigate raw material supply risks and manage supply fluctuations effectively
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation using ERP systems such as SAP MM, Oracle, or local MRP systems
• Perform other ad-hoc procurement duties as assigned

Required competencies and certifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or an equivalent discipline
• Relevant purchasing experience within the machinery or manufacturing sector
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin to liaise effectively with Mandarin-speaking suppliers and partners
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and commercial negotiation skills
