Job summary

SICK Sensor Intelligence in Singapore is seeking a Project Sourcing Engineer to lead and manage sourcing across NPI, transfer, and sustaining programs. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Early involvement in product development and design-to-cost initiatives with global procurement collaboration.
• Drive procurement initiatives to achieve cost targets, ensure supply capability, and minimize risk in NPI and ongoing programs.
• Serve as primary procurement interface for new projects and transfer programs until first production readiness.
• Provide technical sourcing support to R&D to meet CoGS targets and identify new suppliers/materials.
• Use the Project Sourcing tool in the PLM system and ensure timely material release.
• Ensure SAP/ERP data integrity and procurement process compliance.
• Act as escalation point for material shortages and supply disruptions in NPI projects.

Job description

As a Project Sourcing Engineer, you will lead and manage sourcing activities across new product introduction (NPI), transfer, and sustaining programs, ensuring optimal supplier selection, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity..

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Quality, and Global Procurement) to support product development and industrialization, while strengthening supplier partnerships and mitigating supply chain risks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tactical Execution (≈80%)

• Early involvement in product development, as well as early engagement of suppliers as part of “design‑to‑cost” initiatives and collaboration with global procurement teams
• Manage and drive procurement initiatives to achieve cost targets, including sourcing decisions, ensuring supply capability, and minimizing risk during new product introductions (NPI) and ongoing programs.
• Take responsibility for all procurement related topics in NPI / new product development)
• Serve as the primary procurement interface for new projects and transfer programs until first production readiness.
• Provide technical sourcing support to R&D to meet cost-of-goods (CoGS) targets and identify new suppliers/materials.
• Using the Project Sourcing tool in the PLM system
• Ensure timely material release in coordination with project teams to meet build schedules.
• Support prototype builds by sourcing and purchasing required components.
• Ensure SAP / ERP data integrity and procurement process compliance.
• Act as escalation point for material shortages and supply disruptions in NPI projects, driving solutions to ensure continuity.
• Drive cost optimization through supplier selection, alternative technologies, and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure stable supply chain operations to support manufacturing requirements.
• Execute all procurement related tasks in customization projects

2. Strategic Responsibilities (≈20%)

• Translate and implement category strategies into project sourcing execution during product development.
• Implementation of projects using the released supplier pool, Approved Vendor List (AVL) and Preferred Vendor List (PVL)
• Develop mid- to long‑term sourcing plans aligned with product roadmaps and business growth and in alignment with the supply market strategy
• Evaluate the critical parts in the PEP and determine the necessary actions. incl. geopolitical and supply chain risks.
• Drive make‑vs‑buy decisions and long-term cost modelling.

Education & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within R&D/manufacturing environments
• Proven experience in project sourcing and program management.
• Strong ability to interpret technical documents (drawings, BOM, schematics, specifications).
