Job summary

Goltens Toei Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer to drive Green Tech retrofit projects including ESDs, BWMS, and EGCS aboard ships. You will conduct onboard surveys, supervise installations, and participate in commissioning and sea trials.

The role requires a Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 2–5 years of Marine/Oil & gas experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D laser scanning is preferred, and travel to vessels may be required.

Job description

Department: Green Technology
Reporting to: Senior Manager – Green Technology

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the execution of Green Tech projects, including retrofit installations of Energy Saving Devices (ESDs), Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS), Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) and other marine engineering retrofit solutions.
  • Conduct onboard site surveys, 3D laser scanning, inspections, installation supervision for assigned projects
  • Attend commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and sea trials as required.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities to ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with shipowners, Classification Societies, OEMs, shipyards, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, drawings, material requisitions, material lists, technical specifications, and project execution packages.
  • Take ownership of the technical aspects of assigned projects and represent the engineering team during internal and external technical discussions.
  • Supervise and coordinate project execution with Project Managers, Design Engineers, installation teams, and other project personnel.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate technical, practical, and project execution issues, including early escalation of risks, delays, and potential cost impacts.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare timely progress reports for assigned projects.
  • Gather technical information from relevant stakeholders to support engineering activities and project execution.
  • Support procurement activities by preparing material requisitions, reviewing supplier quotations, verifying technical compliance of supplied equipment, and monitoring quality and delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to installation teams to ensure work is carried out in accordance with approved engineering documentation and project requirements.
  • Coordinate onboard installation activities, including logistics, material deliveries, and personnel mobilization.
  • Coordinate project schedules and installation plans with shipowners, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in monitoring project costs by maintaining accurate documentation for variation orders, timesheets, progress records, and other project documentation.
  • Collaborate with other Goltens offices to share technical knowledge, maintain quality standards, and support project execution.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable Classification Society rules, statutory regulations, customer specifications, company quality standards and project requirements.
  • Liaise with OEMs, Classification Societies, shipowners, and other stakeholders on technical clarifications and engineering matters.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Business Manager and Green Tech Manager.
  • Comply with all Company Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and promote safe work practices at all times.
  • To meet EHS requirement for all concerned and interested parties
  • Any other tasks as and when assigned by manager / management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL:

Technical / Professional:

  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2–5 years of experience in the Marine, Offshore, or Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
  • Exposure to marine retrofit projects, ship repair, technical service, or vessel commissioning is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of BWMS, EGCS, Energy Saving Devices (ESDs), or marine retrofit solutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society requirements, statutory regulations, and marine engineering practices is an advantage.
  • PMP training or certification is an advantage.

Technological:

  • Experience with AutoCAD, 3D laser scanning, point cloud software, or similar engineering tools is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation is crucial.

General:

  • Willingness to travel overseas and attend vessels when required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with good organizational and time management skills

People/Relations:

  • Good team player with good attitude, integrity, interpersonal, organization and time management skills
