Job summary

ST Engineering Marine Ltd in Singapore requests an experienced Project Manager to lead ship repair, construction and conversion projects. You will chair VSCC meetings, oversee hot-works and safety, and ensure delivery meets schedules while controlling costs.

You will coordinate with classification societies, ship owners, engineers and crews, develop schedules using MS Projects or Primavera, and drive continuous improvement through digitalisation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Naval Architecture/Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of project management experience in ship repairs or similar.
  • Valid SRM certificate and experience chairing VSCC meetings.
  • Experience with Dredgers, Offshore, Containers, Tankers, etc.
  • Ability to lead repair/construction/conversion projects independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct ship repair, construction and conversion projects.
  • Chair daily VSCC meetings; manage hot-works and safety onboard.
  • Plan to meet repairs/refit schedules and monitor critical paths.
  • Monitor man-hours and control project costs for GP margins.
  • Develop strong client relationships and ensure collaboration.
  • Resolve daily conflicts and coordinate sequential/incompatible jobs.
  • Liaise with classification societies, vessel personnel and agents.
  • Meet contractual commitments and ensure quality of repairs.
  • Capture additional work and inform Commercial Dept for pricing.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and participate in smart yard initiatives.

Job description:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct ship repair, construction and conversion projects.
  • Conduct and lead the daily VSCC meetings. Manage all hot-works, painting and incompatible jobs onboard to ensure safety of personnel and property are not endangered.
  • Meet repairs / refit schedules by planning, and closely monitoring projects' critical paths.
  • Project man hour monitoring and cost control to ensure intended project GP margins are achieved.
  • Develop good working relationship with customers and maintaining a teamwork showing high interests.
  • Solve daily conflicts at ground level by monitoring and coordinating sequential and incompatible jobs affecting the master schedule.
  • Closely liaise with classification societies, ship owners, owner specialist engineers, vessel crew and ship agents to ensure successful completion of the project meeting or exceeding customer's expectations.
  • Meet commercial / naval contractual commitments and quality of repaired ship.
  • Capture additional works and raise work list and provide information to Commercial Dept for more competitive pricing.
  • Acieve best customer satisfaction without any negative feedbacks from the customer.
  • Active involvement of company smart yard, digitalization, innovation and AI projects.

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Naval Architecture/Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Min. 5 to 7 years experience in project management for ship repairs in similar capacity from marine / heavy industries.
  • Possess a valid SRM Certificate
  • Experience in chairing VSCC meetings.
  • Experience in diverse types of vessels such as Dredgers, Offshore vessels, Containers, Tankers etc.
  • Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions.
  • Able to lead and manage ship repair, construction and conversion projects independently.
  • Willing to work late at times and during weekends.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficient in report writing and preparing project schedules using MS Projects, Primavera etc
  • Good communication skills when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders

    • Location: 55 Gul Road (Island-wide company transport provided)
    • 5 days work week
    • Working Hours: 7.25am to 5.00pm
