Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore is seeking a Engineer-Process Improvement to optimize production processes, improve OEE, and drive cost-saving initiatives on the shop floor. You will lead 8D problem-solving, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop training for operators to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and at least 3 years in manufacturing, with experience in automation, lean methods, and data analysis to deliver measurable improvements and sustained

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Precision or Industrial Engineering) required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, automation, and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, robotics, polishing, welding).
  • Knowledge of automation solutions and digital tools.
  • Knowledge of OEE metrics and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Experience with 8D problem-solving methodology and CAPA implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and participate in improvement projects.
  • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of training development and delivery.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production performance, track OEE metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Optimize shop floor layout, material flow, and equipment relocation to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality through process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Lead 8D projects, drive structured problem-solving initiatives, and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
  • Track and manage consumable tools and non-capitalized equipment inventory levels, optimize inventory levels, and prevent stockouts.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure timely delivery and optimal pricing.
  • Ensure safety compliance, conduct regular safety audits, and address operator concerns.
  • Provide technical support to operators, resolve issues, and develop clear procedures.
  • Design and implement automated workflows, minimize human intervention, and ensure seamless machine operations.
  • Identify training needs, develop targeted training programs, and document training processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex production issues, drive process improvements, and share knowledge.
  • Plan and allocate resources to meet production targets, monitor performance, and identify bottlenecks.
  • Lead improvement projects, implement cost-reduction initiatives, and track savings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of process changes, tooling updates, quality improvements, and operator feedback.
