Job Overview
The Product Manager for Silicon Photonics & KGD Wafer Test Solutions owns the strategic roadmap, product definition, and market success of automated wafer-level test systems. This role bridges engineering, marketing, and sales to deliver high-throughput, high accuracy electro-optical testing equipment, software, and instrumentation. The ultimate objective is providing the market with premium Known Good Die (KGD) screening systems essential for AI hardware, co-packaged optics (CPO), and advanced semiconductor packaging (e.g., CoWoS).
Key Responsibilities
1) Strategy & Product Lifecycle Management
- Define the product vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap for Silicon Photonics (SiPh) wafer probers, optical instrumentation, or specialized ATE test software.
- Author comprehensive Market Requirement Documents (MRD) and Product Requirement Documents (PRD) to translate market trends, custom client needs, and technical benchmarks into clear engineering goals.
- Manage lifecycle profitability, including feature prioritization, pricing models, gross margins, and product End-of-Life (EOL) strategies.
2) Technical & Customer Engagement
- Collate customer needs (Voice of Customer) by engaging closely with global semiconductor logic foundries, OSATs, and fabless design teams.
- Collaborate with engineering across optical, electrical, software, and mechanical disciplines to deliver sub-micron active alignment and multi-site probing capabilities.
- Validate performance metrics such as Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R), test cycle times, and throughput limits to ensure industry competitiveness.
3) Market Positioning & Enablement
- Analyse competitor landscapes to establish clear, defensible differentiation for our SiPh/KGD test platform.
- Develop go-to-market strategies, value propositions, product collateral, and whitepapers to equip global sales and field-application engineering teams.
- Represent the organization as a subject matter expert at key industry tech conferences, standardization committees, and executive customer reviews.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1) Education
- Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical/Optical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline. An MBA or advanced degree (Master's) is highly preferred.
2) Core Experience
- 8+ years of total experience in the semiconductor industry, with at least 2+ years in Product Management, Product Marketing, or technical account management.
- Direct exposure to wafer-level probing, semiconductor test equipment (ATE), or active/passive optical testing environments.
3) Skills & Knowledge
- Technical Domain: Strong familiarity with Silicon Photonics architectures (waveguides, grating vs. edge couplers, modulators) and advanced multi-die packaging test workflows.
- Business Acumen: Proven track record in product life cycle management, pricing strategies, market sizing (TAM/SAM estimation), and building business cases.
- Communication: Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to clearly translate deep optoelectronic concepts into value-driven business language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of testing requirements for advanced packaging nodes (e.g., HBM, CoWoS, TSVs).
- Prior experience transitioning from an engineering/technical role into a commercial product management position.
