Job summary

Lumilens is seeking an experienced Optical Transceiver Product Engineer to guide new product introduction, manufacturing transfer, and scale-up of 800G and 1.6T transceiver platforms. You will own manufacturing readiness, work with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to meet quality, yield, and cost objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Direct experience with optical transceiver manufacturing including 800G and 1.6T products.
• Experience supporting NPI and product/manufacturing transfers at contract manufacturers.
• Solid knowledge of BOMs, yield analysis, RCA, and process implementation for optical products.
• Experience with optics FA processes and measurements.
• Ability to work in geographically diverse cross-functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• International travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPI and product transfer activities at new or existing contract manufacturers.
• Ensure changes to product, processes and materials follow change control and QMS.
• Own product yield, quality and reliability as the lead contact for customers.
• Maintain accurate manufacturing BOM and drive cost reduction and productivity.
• Analyze data to define continuous improvements for yield, cycle time and scrap reduction.
• Track test results and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Lead debug and failure analysis for yield excursions and field returns; drive CAPA.
• Ensure product documentation and specifications are up to date.
• Collaborate on qualification testing with quality, design and FA teams.
• Support DF M requirements with design and process engineering.
• Prepare reports on performance trends and manufacturing opportunities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Optical Transceiver Product Engineer to play a critical role in bringing our optical transceiver products from development into high-volume manufacturing, including new product introduction (NPI) support for product transfer to contract manufacturing sites. In this role, you will own manufacturing readiness and product execution across the product lifecycle, working closely with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams in design, process engineering, quality, and operations to meet product objectives and instill a culture of quality and continuous improvement. You will help drive the successful launch, transfer, and scale-up of transceiver platforms, with a strong focus on product quality, yield, reliability, and cost. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support new product introduction (NPI) and product transfer, including qualification and ramp of products at new or additional contract manufacturing sites, ensuring processes, documentation, and yields are validated before mass production release.
• End-to-end manufacturing ownership: ensure all changes to product, processes, materials, etc. are under change control and follow established QMS requirements.
• Responsible for product yield, quality, and reliability, as the lead contact for delivering products to customers.
• Responsible for the accuracy of the manufacturing BOM and driving product quality, operational productivity, product cost, and total cost of manufacturing.
• Analyze, define, develop, and execute continuous improvement plans to achieve yield, cycle time, throughput, and scrap reduction targets.
• Track manufacturing test results and ensure compliance with specification.
• Lead debug and failure analysis of yield excursions, test failures, and field/customer returns; drive root cause investigation and corrective/preventive actions in collaboration with design, quality, and FA teams.
• Responsible for product documentation and specifications.
• Collaborate with the quality team for planning and execution of qualification testing.
• Collaborate with the design team and process engineering to ensure design for manufacturing (DFM) guidelines are met.
• Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Direct experience with optical transceiver manufacturing and engineering, including 800G and 1.6T products.
• Experience supporting NPI and product/manufacturing transfers, including process and yield qualification at contract manufacturing sites.
• Strong technical depth in manufacturing BOMs, yield analysis, root cause problem solving, and process implementation for optical products.
• Experience with transceiver products and optical assembly processes such as wire bond, die bond, active optical alignment, product testing, and burn-in is strongly preferred.
• Experience in ongoing reliability testing and quality control best practices.
• Expertise in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and report generation.
• In-depth understanding of the quality management system and quality standard requirements.
• Strong hands-on skills in debug, failure analysis, and root cause corrective action for optical transceiver products.
• Expertise in optics FA processes and tools.
• Ability to work well in a geographically diverse cross-functional team.
• Good command of English communication, both verbal and written, including in-person and virtual presentation skills.
• International travel required.
