Job summary

Evonik is seeking a laboratory professional to support the Quality Manager and Lab Chemist on Jurong Island, Singapore. You will assist with experiments, maintain equipment, and help develop lab methods while collaborating across departments.

The ideal candidate holds a chemistry-related diploma/degree, has 2+ years in a lab, and understands polymer synthesis and lubricant testing. Company transport is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma/Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related science.
• At least 2 years of laboratory experience; fresh graduates with relevant experience considered.
• Knowledge in Polymer synthesis.
• Knowledge of lubricant testing is beneficial.
• Experience using analytical equipment like GC, HPLC, GPC, DSC desired.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willing to work on Jurong Island (company transport provided).

Responsibilities

• Provide troubleshooting support to the plant as required.
• Assist with execution of laboratory experiments for new raw material evaluations.
• Conduct laboratory experiments for process development projects as required.
• Responsible for scheduled maintenance and calibration of laboratory process and testing equipment.
• Develop, implement and maintain laboratory procedures and test methods.
• Participate in plant ESHQ activities.
• Evaluate the design and selection of laboratory equipment meeting required specs.
• Maintain inventories of key lab supplies.
• Support the Quality Manager and Lab Chemist with new technologies in the lab.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve problems.
• Identify shortcomings in existing processes and apply established change management programs.
• Collect information to gain understanding of routine procedural queries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support Quality Manager and Lab Chemist by providing troubleshooting support to the plant as required.
• Assist with the execution of laboratory experiments for new raw material evaluations
• Conducting laboratory experiments for process development projects as required.
• Responsible for scheduled maintenance and calibration of laboratory process and testing equipment.
• Develop, implement and maintain laboratory procedures and test methods.
• Participating in plant ESHQ activities.
• Evaluate the design and selection of laboratory equipment that meets the required technical specifications.
• Maintaining inventories of key lab supplies (including consumables, glassware, etc.)
• Support the Quality Manager and Lab Chemist with the introduction of new and applicable technologies to the laboratory.
• Work in collaboration with other departments and cross disciplines to resolve problem.
• Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
• Collect information to gain a better understanding of routine procedural queries.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Diploma/Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or any related science discipline
• At least 2 years of laboratory experience needed but fresh graduate with relevant experience will be considered
• Knowledge in Polymer synthesis
• Knowledge of lubricant testing is beneficial
• Experience in the use of analytical equipment like GC, HPLC, GPC, DSC desired
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Technical Knowledge (E.g. specialized knowledge required to perform all the required tasks)
• Willing to work in Jurong Island (company transport provided)
