As a Probe Automation Technician at Micron Technology, you will be part of the Probe Automation team, supporting the software systems that keep factory operations running. The team maintains automation capabilities including autonomous material delivery, factory scheduling, and in-house equipment automation. You will provide day-to-day operational support across shifts, monitoring system health, responding to automation alarms and failures, and performing first-level troubleshooting and recovery according to established procedures. You will work closely with shift manufacturing and equipment teams to restore automation availability quickly, escalating issues to system owners when needed, and keep production flowing. Beyond daily support, you will take part in internal improvement projects that make automation systems more reliable and reduce manual effort for the team.
This is a shift-based role. Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, is a mandatory requirement.
Monitor the health and performance of Probe automation systems, including automated material delivery, automated lot scheduling, and in-house equipment automation.
Respond to automation system alarms, system errors, and lot staging or scheduling failures; perform first-level troubleshooting and recovery in accordance with established SOPs and work instructions.
Escalate unresolved or recurring issues to the respective system owners with clear, complete information on symptoms, timing, tools affected, and recovery steps already taken.
Log and update tickets for all automation issues encountered, ensuring traceability and supporting downstream analysis of repeat issues.
Support day-to-day production by working closely with shift manufacturing and shift equipment teams to minimize automation-related downtime and protect priority lot movement.
Participate in internal operation improvement projects within the Probe Automation team, such as simplifying manual steps, improving monitoring and dashboards, improving recovery procedures, and updating SOPs based on actual shift experience.
Maintain and improve automation SOPs, checklists, and troubleshooting guides; share knowledge with other shift team members.
Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Applied AI & Analytics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline; or equivalent relevant working experience.
Able and willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including night shift, weekends, and public holidays.
Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python or Perl, with the ability to read existing scripts, make small modifications, and run them safely in a production environment.
Basic SQL skills for querying databases to check system state, verify data, and support issue investigation.
Hands‑on familiarity with Linux-based systems (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL, AlmaLinux), including basic command line navigation, log file review, and service status checks.
Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, or a framework such as Angular) is an advantage.
Experience with Tableau or Power BI for building or maintaining monitoring dashboards is an advantage.
Practical exposure to AI tools or machine learning techniques, including using AI to assist troubleshooting, scripting, or analysis, is an advantage.
Ability to follow written procedures accurately and work with minimal supervision during off‑shift hours.
Structured troubleshooting approach, with the ability to isolate a problem, apply the correct SOP, and know when to elevate.
Ability to prioritize effectively under production pressure and make sound judgment calls on lot and tool impact.
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, for shift handover, ticket documentation, and escalation to engineers.
Strong learning mindset, teamwork orientation, and willingness to take ownership of improvement work beyond day-to-day support.
