What the role is:

The Public Service Division (PSD) aims to build a first-class Public Service for a successful and vibrant Singapore. We do this through public sector leadership development, capacity and capability building and the promotion of quality services at all levels of the Public Service. We are looking for outstanding candidates with the vision and passion to contribute to help shape Singapore.The ChallengeThe ChallengeThe Singapore Public Service is operating in an increasingly complex environment characterised by rapid technological advancements, rising citizen expectations, evolving workforce needs, and growing demands for public sector effectiveness. To remain future-ready, agencies must continually transform how policies are designed, services are delivered, and organisations are led.For that, we have embarked on the Public Sector Transformation (PST) journey since the 2010s. We seek to transform along 3Ws - Work, Workforce, Workplace - to drive sustained change, and work with agencies across the Whole-of-Government (WOG) system to shape and drive transformation. This includes advancing transformation priorities, strengthening organisational capabilities, supporting workforce renewal, and exploring how emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) can accelerate impact across government.

What you will be working on:

Learning AreasBy joining our #PeoplePurposePossibilities internship, you will contribute to national-level transformation efforts and gain exposure to strategy, innovation and capabilities development work across the Public Service.

• Strategy and Policy Development: Support the development of transformation strategies, policy proposals, briefing materials and presentations for senior leaders. You will help analyse emerging trends, synthesise research findings, and contribute to recommendations that shape the future direction of the Public Service.
• Public Sector Transformation and AI Initiatives: Support work to drive AI-enabled transformation across government, across broad-based officer enablement, functional area workflow and process redesign and data governance. This may include landscape scans, stakeholder engagement, project tracking, analysis of transformation opportunities, and development of materials to support WOG initiatives and governance discussions.
• Research, Data and Insights: Conduct research, analyse quantitative and qualitative data, identify emerging issues, and distil key findings into concise and actionable insights for decision-making on issues such as identifying the pertinent and actionable global macro trends relevant to PST, articulating best practices for building capabilities within officers, surfacing new and innovation models to diffuse innovation throughout organisations, etc. You may also support environmental scanning and benchmarking exercises involving public and private sector organisations.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: Work closely with colleagues and partners from ministries and agencies to coordinate projects (including events), gather inputs, facilitate discussions, and support cross-agency initiatives.

Through this internship, you will gain exposure to some of the Public Sector's key transformation priorities and develop capabilities that are highly valued in both policy and strategy roles. You will learn to think strategically, analyse complex issues, and develop evidence-based recommendations through research and insight generation. Working closely with stakeholders across government, you will strengthen your project management, engagement and coordination skills while gaining experience in executive communications and leadership support. You will also deepen your understanding of AI, digital transformation and public sector innovation, and learn how modern productivity and AI tools can be applied to enhance policymaking, problem-solving and organisational transformation efforts.
