Job summary

Salling Search PTE. LTD. is recruiting a Post-Fixture Specialist for a global mining and commodities company in its in-house shipping division.

This 12-month fixed-term contract offers a chance to work at the interface of chartering and operations within a well-established shipping team. Responsibilities include managing laytime calculations, negotiating settlements under Charter Party contracts, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure smooth voyage closures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics or related field.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Meticulous and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage laytime calculation with internal cargo teams and third-party customers across the TC fleet and Voyage Relet voyages.
• Negotiate laytime settlement under Charter Party contracts, including constructing and articulating arguments during negotiation.
• Escalate disputes to Operations management and liaise with the legal team for advice.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth voyage closure with minimal risk.
• Validate transactions concluded by Chartering against the deal checklist and Shipping SOP, covering vessel vetting, port approvals, deal confirmation, credit approval and CMT approval.
• Conduct independent sanction reviews of vessels nominated for chartering.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system data for vessels and contracts.
• Check and negotiate freight differentials for equity and third-party trading cargo, and advise internal teams accordingly.
• Ensure final freight rates and invoices are correctly updated and issued after laytime and freight differential are concluded.
• Maintain a log of outstanding contract documentation and work with Chartering to finalise contracts in a timely manner.
• Provide regular and ad hoc reporting on contract status, service delivery and voyage closure performance.
• Offer shipping and contractual expertise to internal commercial teams, especially for new trades or customers.
• Support Shipping Safety, Health and Environment as well as sustainability and ESG initiatives.
• Assist with vessel vetting and nomination procedures, and notify counterparties of vessel acceptance or documentation requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics or a related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in shipping post-fixture, operations or contract administration, ideally within dry bulk or bulk shipping
• Strong working knowledge of laytime calculation, Charter Party contracts and freight settlement
• Familiarity with shipping systems such as Veson or Veslink is an advantage
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Meticulous and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Based in Singapore, with the ability to start within the contract period
