Job summary

Cognizant Singapore is seeking an experienced Platform Operations Engineer to manage and stabilize mission-critical infrastructure in a large-scale public sector environment. You will oversee on-prem and hybrid cloud platforms, drive incident management, governance, and modernization initiatives, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams.

The role requires strong experience in virtualization, OS, storage, backup, and DR, plus hands-on coordination of projects, risks, and dependencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Operations, Platform Operations, or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Singapore Government, Statutory Board, Public Sector, or Government-linked environments.
• Experience supporting production or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of virtualization, OS, storage, backup, networking, and HA/DR.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Provide technical oversight for compute, virtualization, operating systems, storage, backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability (HA) platforms.
• Lead investigation and resolution of complex incidents, including root cause analysis and recovery planning.
• Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and operational readiness.
• Coordinate with vendors and support teams to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed within timelines.
• Manage escalations and drive issue resolution across multiple stakeholders.
• Review service requests, technical implementations, and procedures for quality and supportability.
• Support infrastructure governance activities, including change reviews, risk assessments, compliance alignment, and operational readiness reviews.
• Ensure infrastructure operations comply with security and architectural standards.
• Review implementation and rollback plans for infrastructure changes.
• Support infrastructure transformation and technology refresh while maintaining stability.
• Coordinate upgrades, migrations, modernization across teams and vendors.
• Track risks, dependencies, action items, and milestones to ensure delivery.
• Collaborate with application, network, cloud, and security teams to resolve platform-related issues.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and governance artefacts.
• Provide regular status updates to project teams and stakeholders.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Platform Operations Engineer to support mission-critical infrastructure platforms within a large-scale public sector environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring platform stability, operational excellence, infrastructure governance, and supporting ongoing modernization initiatives across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.

This role requires a strong combination of infrastructure operations, incident management, vendor coordination, technical governance, and project delivery experience. Prior experience working in a Singapore Government or Public Sector environment is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Platform Operations

• Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.

Technical & Security Governance

• Support infrastructure governance activities, including change reviews, risk assessments, compliance alignment, and operational readiness reviews.
• Ensure infrastructure operations comply with organizational security and architectural standards.
• Review implementation and rollback plans for infrastructure changes.

Infrastructure Refresh & Modernization

• Support infrastructure transformation and technology refresh initiatives while maintaining stable day-to-day operations.
• Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization activities across internal teams and vendors.
• Track project risks, dependencies, action items, and milestones to ensure successful delivery.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with application, network, cloud, and security teams to resolve platform-related issues.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and governance artefacts.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Operations, Platform Operations, or Systems Engineering.
