Job summary

HPL GLOBAL PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a commercially driven Petrochemical Trader to grow our international trading and business development efforts.

You will work with senior originators, traders, and operators to expand base chemicals and blending stocks, taking on ownership as the business grows. The role emphasizes developing market strategies, managing risk with derivatives, and building strong counterparty networks while delivering P&L and collaborating with adjacent desks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial experience in Asian/Middle East petrochemical trading.
• Strong knowledge of bulk chemical logistics and handling.
• Demonstrated network to support origination and market development.
• Genuine interest in trading and commercial execution with growth potential.
• Strong analytical skills and clear communication.
• Self-motivated and proactive with willingness to learn from others.
• Proficient in MS Office and CTRM systems.
• Fluent English; Asian language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop/analyze Petrochemical balance and market dynamics.
• Develop market entry strategy and a road map from start to delivery.
• Establish relationships and trade petrochemicals in the international market (spot/term).
• Build 3rd party trading alongside asset-based trading.
• Manage risk of underlying assets with derivatives and build a spec paper book.
• P&L responsibility for the Petrochemical book.
• Support analytics team to build analytical models.
• Collaborate with Operations for post-deal value chain handling.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with counterparties and identify opportunities.
• Work with risk management to monitor exposures.
• Collaborate with adjacent desks to share market insights and cross-product opportunities.
