Job summary

Dyson Operations Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a robotics software engineer with hands-on experience in sensing, perception and real-world robotic challenges. You will design and prototype sensing solutions and deploy software on prototype hardware.

Applicants should hold an advanced robotics degree or equivalent experience, have 2+ years with ToF/RGB sensors, C++, Python, ROS, and proficiency with Gazebo or PyBullet.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience in robotics focusing on sensing and perception.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with proprioceptive and exteroceptive sensing technologies and their integration.
• Hands-on experience with Time-of-Flight and RGB camera sensors.
• Experience designing, deploying, and testing hardware and software prototypes for proof-of-concept projects.
• Competent in state-of-the-art ML and computer vision including object identification, tracking, point cloud registration, and image segmentation.
• Experience with robotics simulation platforms (Gazebo or PyBullet).
• Strong programming in C++, Python, and ROS, plus familiarity with open-source libraries and dev tools.
• Experience developing software in Linux environments and clear technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate novel sensing solutions for Dyson's next generation robotic platforms, to address real world robotic challenges.
• Prototype solutions in simulation and in hardware to perform thorough quantitative evaluation to assess suitability and robustness.
• Seek out, understand and resolve the challenging edge cases that arise when operating in real-world domestic environments.
• Work within multidisciplinary team to design systems that take into account the physical, computational and cost constraints of the target platform.
• Develop software in C++ and Python and deploy & test on prototype/target hardware.
• Develop state of the art machine learning and image processing algorithms for a targeted hardware.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies within robotics, and keep up to date with industry best practices and trends.
