The Services required are set out as follows:
- Student Emotional & Behavioural Support
- First line of support for students
- Provides one-on-one pastoral support for students who are anxious, distressed, withdrawn or emotionally overwhelmed
- Uses restorative practices, active listening andde-escalation strategies to manage situations constructively
- Builds trusting relationships and creates a safe,confidential space for students to share concerns
- Promotes positive coping strategies, emotional regulationand resilience
- Case Management & Well-being Monitoring
- Identifies, monitors and supports students who may be vulnerable or at risk (e.g. mental health, social, orfamilyrelated concerns)
- Maintains regular check-ins and track changes in student behaviour, attendance and well-being
- Works collaboratively with Year Heads (YH), School Counsellors and Discipline Mistress to ensure coordinated support
- Keeps accurate, confidential records of incidents, interventions and student progress
- Safeguarding & Crisis Intervention
- Responds promptly to incidents such as emotional breakdowns, conflicts or aggressive behaviour
- De-escalates situations while prioritising the safety andwellbeing of all students involved
- Provides immediate emotional support and helps stabilise students during crisis
- Preventive & Well-being Programmes
- Plans, conducts or supports Social-emotional learning(SEL) and Peer support initiatives
- Supports early intervention efforts to prevent escalationof behavioural or emotional issues
- Encourages peer connectedness
- Family & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicates sensitively with parents/guardians regarding student well-being and behavioural concerns; when needed
- Coordinates with external agencies (e.g. social services, mental health professionals) when additional support is required
Qualification:
The Personnel shall minimally possess a Diploma inCounselling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or a related discipline
He/ she should preferably have the following primary schoolstudent handling skills and experience:
Skills
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills, with the abilityto build trust and rapport with students.
- Good communication, active listening skills and relatableto students between ages 7 to 12 years old.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and composed inchallenging situations involving student meltdowns.
- Basic student conflict resolution and behavior managementskills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise soundjudgement.
Experience
- 2 years of experience in primary school studentwell-being, pastoral care or behavioural support programmes; OR
- 2 years of exposure to counselling, mentoring or guidingprimary school students with social-emotional needs.
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
Mondays to Fridays: 7:15am to 2:45pm,inclusive of 1hr lunch break
