Job summary

The Classroom is a part-time on-site teaching position based in Hougang Central, Singapore. You will teach Lower Secondary Science (Sec 1 and Sec 2) with a minimum load of 3 classes per week, capped at 12 students per class. Priorities include preparing materials, tracking progress, and liaising with parents.

Experience in Secondary Science and a degree in Science or Engineering are required. Higher salary possible if you can also teach Upper Secondary Pure Physics.

Hougang | Part-time | From $60 min per hour | One weekend day

We are looking for an experienced Lower Secondary Science teacher to join us part-time at The Classroom.

The role will mainly involve teaching Sec 1 and Sec 2 Science, with a teaching load of minimum 3 classes per week. Classes are capped at 12 students, and you will work on selected weekdays and at least one weekend day.

If you are also able to teach Upper Secondary Pure Physics, even better. There will be room for a larger teaching role and a higher salary.

About us

The Classroom is a Secondary Maths and Science tuition centre in Hougang Central.

We started in 2009 and have taught close to 3,000 students over the years. We currently specialise in subjects such as O-Level Chemistry and Additional Mathematics, and we are now looking for someone who can help us further build our Lower Secondary Science programme.

We are a relatively small team, so this is not a role where you simply come in, teach your classes and leave.

You will work closely with me and the rest of the team on how we teach Science, how our materials can be improved, and how we can help our students learn better.

What you will be doing

• Teach Sec 1 and Sec 2 Science classes

• Communicate with parents when necessary

• Maintain a classroom that is structured, engaging and conducive for learning

What we are looking for

You should have:

• At least 2 years of experience teaching Secondary Science
• A degree in Science, Engineering or a related field
• Strong subject knowledge
• The ability to explain difficult concepts clearly
• Confidence communicating with both students and parents
• A genuine interest in improving your own teaching over time

This is not an entry-level teaching position.

We are looking for someone who already has classroom experience and can take ownership of his or her classes.

Working arrangement

• Part-time, on-site at Hougang Central
• Selected weekdays + one weekend day
• Min 3-6 classes per week
• Maximum 12 students per class

Salary

Competitive salary starting from $60 per hour.

Salary can go up depending on experience, teaching ability and whether you are able to teach Upper Secondary Physics as well.
