Job summary

EnviroDynamics Solutions Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on optical networks engineer to perform troubleshooting of long-haul and metro DWDM systems across PoPs and data centers. You will interact with vendors, ISPs, and internal teams to restore services quickly and minimize downtime, with focus on ROADM, coherent transponders, and DWDM components.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong communication, and ability to operate CLI tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2–5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of fiber optic technologies including cables, connectors, optics, and optical transport technologies.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs globally.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of ROADM systems, coherent transponders, and long‑haul optical network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot optical devices at PoPs and Data Centers, coordinating with multiple vendors.
  • Perform dark fiber maintenance and analyze OTDR results.
  • Monitor long-haul and metro networks to resolve faults promptly.
  • Coordinate with smart hands and manufacturers for issue resolution and service restoration.
  • Develop and document operational procedures, monitors, alerts, dashboards, and key metrics.
  • Manage RMA processes with vendors and ensure proper documentation.
  • Weekend support may occasionally be required.

Job description

Responsibilities

Perform troubleshooting of optical devices such as Ciena 6500 and Infinera GX40 at Huts, Points of Presence (PoPs), and Data Centers. Manage dark fiber maintenance and respond to queries from the OSP team. Handle daily troubleshooting tasks involving multiple vendors for both software and hardware issues. Support incident management for optical devices, including hardware failures, power outages, and major fiber events. Coordinate with smart hands support and optical equipment manufacturers for issue resolution and service restoration. Work with ISPs and vendors to address network-related issues, including RMA processing and fiber repairs. Conduct and analyze OTDR testing results to troubleshoot fiber optic issues. Monitor long-haul and metro optical networks and resolve faults promptly. Collaborate and elevate cases with internal teams to restore services quickly and minimize downtime. Document operational procedures, improve workflows, and contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards, and key metrics. Manage RMA processes with vendors and ensure proper documentation. Work closely with regional and international teams in optical and network operations. Weekend support may occasionally be required.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (B.S/B.A) with 2 to 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.

Solid understanding of fiber optic technologies, including cable types, connectors, optics, and optical transport technologies.

Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs globally.

Hands‑on knowledge of ROADM systems, coherent transponders, and long‑haul optical network operations.

Familiarity with Layer 0/Layer 1 traffic protection and restoration methods, including their advantages and disadvantages.

Proficient in operating DWDM devices, understanding their components, and using CLI commands.

Experienced in dark fiber testing and light level measurements.

Good knowledge of networking protocols and general network operations.
