Job summary

IFM ELECTRONIC ASIA PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an Optical Design Engineer to design and develop photoelectric sensors. You will use ZEMAX or Optical Studio to craft optical systems that meet strict sensor specifications, accounting for mechanical and electrical tolerances.

You will create test plans, verify designs, and implement countermeasures. Collaboration with EEs, MEs, and cross-functional teams is essential to drive new and custom product development and lifecycle support.

Qualifications

• Master/degree in Electronic/Optoelectronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in optical design and development.
• Experience with optical design software (ZEMAX/Optical Studio).
• Photonic design knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of photoelectric sensors.
• Use optical design software to create optical systems meeting sensor specs with mechanical and electrical tolerance.
• Create and execute detailed optical test plans and implement countermeasures.
• Collaborate with Electronic Engineers to define light source and receiver; work with Mechanical Engineers on parts design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new/custom products and sustain lifecycle including complaints, obsolescence, and failure analysis.
• Liaise with Headquarter for technical support and technology transfer.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and development of photoelectric sensors
• Using optical design software to design optical system that includes lens, aperture, filters meeting sensor specification considering mechanical and electrical tolerance
• Create detail optical test plan and perform verification and implement countermeasures
• Collaborate with Electronic Engineers to define the light source and receiver, and Mechanical Engineers on the mechanical parts design
• Collaborate with cross functional teams on new and custom products development, and sustain product lifecycle including customer complaints, components obsolescence, failure analysis, etc.
• Liaising with Headquarter for technical support and technology transfer

Job Requirements:

• Master/Degree in Electronic/Optoelectronic Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in optical design and development
• Experience on optical system design in optical design software; i.e. ZEMAX / Optical studio
• Good knowledge in photonic design for optical sensor is an advantage
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
