Job summary

IFM Electronic Asia Pte. Ltd. seeks a skilled Optical Design Engineer to design and develop photoelectric sensors.

The role requires hands-on experience with optical systems, including lenses, apertures, and filters, and the ability to meet sensor specifications while considering tolerances. You will collaborate with electronic and mechanical engineers and work with cross-functional teams on new and custom products, and sustain product lifecycles including complaints and obsolescence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electronic/Optoelectronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant optical design experience.
• Proficiency with optical design software (ZEMAX/Optical Studio).
• Knowledge of photonic design for optical sensors is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills; capable of teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop photoelectric sensors.
• Use optical design software to create optical systems including lens, aperture, and filters per sensor specs; account for mechanical and electrical tolerances.
• Create detailed optical test plans, verify results, and implement countermeasures.
• Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on light sources, receivers, and mechanical parts design.
• Work with cross-functional teams on new/custom products, sustain lifecycles including complaints, obsolescence, and failure analysis.
• Liaise with Headquarters for technical support and technology transfer.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and development of photoelectric sensors
• Using optical design software to design optical system that includes lens, aperture, filters meeting sensor specification considering mechanical and electrical tolerance
• Create detail optical test plan and perform verification and implement countermeasures
• Collaborate with Electronic Engineers to define the light source and receiver, and Mechanical Engineers on the mechanical parts design
• Collaborate with cross functional teams on new and custom products development, and sustain product lifecycle including customer complaints, components obsolescence, failure analysis, etc.
• Liaising with Headquarter for technical support and technology transfer

Job Requirements:

• Master/Degree in Electronic/Optoelectronic Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in optical design and development
• Experience on optical system design in optical design software; i.e. ZEMAX / Optical studio
• Good knowledge in photonic design for optical sensor is an advantage
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
