Squad Marine Engineering Pte Ltd is seeking an Operations Manager to lead workshop operations and drive commercial growth. This role blends technical oversight with market-facing responsibilities to secure new ship repair contracts.

You will manage daily scheduling, allocate resources, and ensure quality while developing marketing strategies and client partnerships to expand our market presence. A strong technical background and proven sales ability are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in a marine engineering workshop or shipyard.
• 2–3 years in a role with commercial sales, project management or business development.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of 2‑stroke and 4‑stroke marine medium speed diesel engines (Wärtsilä, MAN, Caterpillar, Cummins, Yanmar).
• Strong maritime market understanding and B2B sales techniques.
• Education: degree/diploma in marine engineering or business; Chief Engineer certificate.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills; able to lead technical teams under pressure.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly organized, commercially minded, and driven Operations Manager to lead our workshop operations while actively driving business growth and client acquisition.

Position Overview

As the Operations Manager, you will dual-hat as the operational backbone and the commercial driver of our workshop. You will oversee daily scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control, while simultaneously leading marketing and sales strategies to capture new ship repair contracts. The ideal candidate blends deep technical knowledge of marine propulsion systems with a proven ability to pitch services, build lasting relationships with ship owners, and expand our market presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Manage daily workshop and field service activities, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to OEM specifications.
• Sales & Business Development: Identify and secure new business opportunities with ship owners, ship management companies, shipyards, and port agents to increase workshop utilization.
• Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute local and regional marketing initiatives to promote the workshop’s specialized repair capabilities, emergency response speed, and technical expertise.
• Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with existing maritime clients, securing repeat maintenance contracts and handling service agreements.
• Quoting & Estimating: Prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals, cost estimations, and tender responses for major engine overhauls or emergency breakdown repairs.
• Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and schedule a team of marine technicians, machinists, and supervisors.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict marine safety standards (HSE), ensuring full compliance with maritime regulations and workshop safety protocols.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control checks on component machining, engine assembly, and sea trials to minimize re-work and maintain brand reputation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in a marine engineering workshop or shipyard, with at least 2–3 years in a role involving commercial sales, project management, or business development.
• Technical Expertise: Deep hands‑on knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine medium speed diesel engines (e.g., Wärtsilä, MAN, Caterpillar, Cummins, Yanmar).
• Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the maritime market, vessel operator procurement processes, and effective B2B sales techniques.
• Education: Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or a Chief Engineer / Second Engineer marine competency certificate.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills, alongside the ability to lead technical teams under pressure.
