Sinochem International Oil (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking a motivated Oil Trading Operations Intern to gain hands-on exposure to the oil trading business and day-to-day operations.

The role involves frequent interaction with our China HQ, customers, suppliers, and other partners. Mandarin and English fluency are essential, and you will work closely with trading, finance, shipping, and risk management teams to develop practical skills while pursuing your degree.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Business, Finance, Economics, International Trade, Logistics, or related field.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong interest in oil trading, commodities, international trade, or energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Oil Trading Operations team with daily trading and operational activities.
• Coordinate with HQ in China, customers, suppliers, shipping companies, and other partners on trading matters.
• Prepare, check, and file trading and operational documents (contracts, invoices, shipping docs).
• Follow up on shipment schedules, cargo movements, and delivery arrangements.
• Maintain trading records, databases, and reports; support cross-department coordination.

Oil Trading Operations - Internship to Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Oil Trading Operations Intern to join our team in Singapore. This role will provide hands-on exposure to the oil trading business and day-to-day trading operations, including communication with our headquarters in China, customers, suppliers, and other business partners.

As the role involves frequent communication with colleagues and clients in China, Mandarin speaking and writing skills are essential .

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Oil Trading Operations team with daily trading and operational activities.
• Coordinate with HQ in China, customers, suppliers, shipping companies, and other business partners on trading-related matters.
• Assist with the preparation, checking, and filing of trading and operational documents, including contracts, invoices, shipping documents, and other relevant documentation.
• Follow up on shipment schedules, cargo movements, delivery arrangements, and other operational matters.
• Support the team in updating and maintaining trading records, databases, and reports.
• Assist in coordinating with internal departments such as Trading, Finance, Shipping, and Risk Management.
• Communicate and follow up with Chinese-speaking stakeholders by email, phone, and messaging platforms.
• Conduct basic market, customer, and industry research when required.
• Perform other administrative and operational tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken. Mandarin is required as the role involves regular communication with HQ and clients in China.
• Strong interest in oil trading, commodities, international trade, shipping, or energy markets.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Proactive, responsible, and willing to learn.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
