Job summary

Sinochem International Oil (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. is hiring an Oil Trader to manage day-to-day oil product trading, biofuels, and carbon emissions activities.

You will trade derivatives to hedge positions and build strong counterparty relationships across regions. You will drive business development in Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, negotiate spot/term deals, monitor market movements, and help with procurement contracts, cost calculations, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Master degree in International Trade or related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in oil trading.
• 3+ years in physical oil trading in Europe/Americas is a plus.
• Fluent in English for business communication; Chinese language required for interactions.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day activities of oil products, biofuels, and carbon trading.
• Trade derivatives and futures to hedge positions.
• Build and maintain relationships with counterparties; frequent visits and communications.
• Drive sales growth with Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
• Negotiate and finalize market transactions on spot/term basis.
• Monitor world petroleum markets and share insights internally.
• Assist in procurement/sales contracts, cost calculations, and trade implementation.
• Prepare routine departmental and interdepartmental reports.
• Mentor junior traders, trading assistants, and analysts.

Oil Trader

Employment Type: Full-time permanent position

Working Arrangement: Full-time, on-site

Key Responsibilities

• Day to day activities of oil products, biofuels and carbon emission trading, blending, storage and related works.
• Trade on derivatives and futures to hedge physical position.
• Establish and maintain solid customer relationships with new and existing counterparties, including regular visits and daily communications.
• Business development and driving sales growth with potential customers in Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
• Negotiate and conclude market transaction on a spot/term basis.
• Track and monitor world petroleum market movements and actively communicate internally to ensure adequate understanding of product fundamentals.
• Participate in the formulation and negotiation of procurement and sales contracts, calculate procurement costs, and ensure the reasonable implementation of trade.
• Routine departmental and interdepartmental reporting as required.
• To assist the management in mentoring the junior traders, trading assistants and analysts with good skillsets of methodologies as well as corporate culture and mentality.
• To carry out other duties assigned by Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director and General Manager as and when necessary.

Requirements

• Master degree in InternationalTrade or related fields.
• At least 5 years of relevantexperience in oil trading industry. In addition to that, (3 years or more)experience in the physical oil trading in Europe and/or the Americas will be abig plus.
• Good knowledge of Chinese domesticproduction and trading for oil products and biofuels, capable to monitor thearbitrage econs of import and export from time to time.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel,Word, Power Point).
• High fluency in both English forday-to-day business communication, contractual negotiation, market analysis andthe drafting of internal report and strategy.
• Ability to speak and write inChinese is required to communicate with Chinese speaking associates andclients, and capable to prepare formal and written weekly/monthly analysis andsummary reports .
• Strong negotiation and analyticalskills with a strategic mind.
• Good people skills, goodcommunication and presentation skills.
