Job summary

Grey Tree, a leading independent commodity trading house, seeks a Middle Officer to ensure timely trade captures, accurate risk exposure, and PnL reporting. The role also covers setting up valuation curves and monitoring trading limits.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in Middle Office, with energy/LNG trading knowledge, familiarity with ETRM systems, and experience in back/middle office processes. A numerate degree with a financial major is preferred; FRM/CFA may help but aren’t essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in a numerate discipline with a financial major preferred.
• 3–5 years’ Middle Office or Risk/Trading/Business Analyst experience in energy/LNG.
• Experience setting up risk management ETRM systems.
• Familiarity with back and middle office processes in commodity trading.
• Big 4 audit experience in commodities trading is relevant.

Job description

Our client is one of the world's leading independent commodity trading houses. They are seeking a Middle Officer responsible for timely trade captures, correct risk exposure and PnL reporting. The role also involves setting up the valuation / pricing curves and monitoring the desk’s trading limits.

About the role

• Support the business in capturing trades, reporting of risk exposures, reporting of pricing risk to traders and PnL attribution and reporting.
• Manage the risk profile of the trading business in line with the agreed appetite for risk and risk limits
• Proactively develop and improve business processes and risk systems/functionalities in coordination with traders / IT and Chief Risk Manager
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with the various functions within the business, including finance, trading, middle office and operations
• Support the business to enable new products or new trading strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

• A degree in a numerate discipline with a financial major would be attractive, i.e. Financial Engineering etc. Further professional qualification e.g. FRM, CFA may be helpful but not essential.
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in Middle Office, preferably an experienced Risk/Trading/Business Analyst with strong understanding, knowledge and experience of Energy trading and in LNG. Knowledge of oil trading is a plus.
• Technically competent with experience in setting up / managing risk management ETRM systems and tools.
• Familiar with back office and middle office processes in a commodities trading environment
• Candidates with big 4 accounting firm experience in audit of commodities trading firm is relevant for this role.
