Job summary

Mercuria in Singapore seeks a Middle Officer to ensure timely trade captures, accurate risk exposure reporting and PnL attribution. The role also involves setting up valuation and pricing curves and monitoring the desk’s trading limits.

The candidate should have 1–5 years in Middle Office with knowledge of metals, and experience with risk management tools and ETRM systems. Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years’ work experience in Middle Office, preferably Risk/Trading/Business Analyst with metals exposure.
• Strong understanding and experience in metals business and risk methods.
• Familiar with back/middle office processes in commodities trading environments.
• Big 4 auditing experience in commodities trading can be relevant.

Job description

The Middle Officer is responsible for timely trade captures, correct risk exposure and PnL reporting. The role also involves setting up the valuation / pricing curves and monitoring the desk’s trading limits.

Responsibilities:

• Support the business in capturing trades, reporting of risk exposures, reporting of pricing risk to traders and PnL attribution and reporting.
• Manage the risk profile of the trading business in line with the agreed appetite for risk and risk limits.
• Proactively develop and improve business processes and risk systems / functionalities in coordination with traders / IT and Chief Risk Manager.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with the various functions within the business, including finance, trading, middle office and operations.
• Support the business to enable new products or new trading strategies.

Technical qualifications and skills:

• A degree in a numerate discipline with a financial major would be attractive, i.e. Financial Engineering etc. Further professional qualification e.g. FRM, CFA may be helpful but not essential.
• 1-5 years’ work experience in Middle Office, preferably an experienced Risk/Trading/Business Analyst with strong understanding, knowledge and experience in Metals business.
• Technically competent with experience in setting up / managing risk management ETRM systems and tools.
• Familiar with back office and middle office processes in a commodities trading business environment.
• Candidates with big 4 accounting firm experience in audit of commodities trading firm is also relevant for this role.
