Messaging Engineer
Job Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 administration and escalation support for enterprise messaging services, focusing on Cisco IronPort, Microsoft EOP/ATP, Exchange, and Microsoft 365/O365.
- Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange 2016+, including hybrid environments and complex mail flow issues.
- Manage Exchange Online mailboxes, configurations, quotas, inbox rules, permissions, and PowerShell administration.
- Troubleshoot and manage email routing, connectors, transport rules, and inbound/outbound mail flow.
- Maintain and support email security controls including anti-spam, anti-malware, anti-phishing, impersonation protection, and quarantine policies.
- Investigate email security threats and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Provide strong expertise in SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC, SMTP, DNS, and email routing.
- Develop and execute PowerShell scripts for administration, automation, and operational improvements.
- Support incidents, problems, changes, upgrades, patches, and release management for messaging services.
- Participate in messaging projects as a Subject Matter Expert, supporting implementation, migration, integration, and deployment activities.
- Develop and maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, and production support procedures.
- Work with network and security teams on issues involving DNS, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles to reduce recurring service desk incidents.
- Proactively identify potential service issues and recommend improvements to ensure operational stability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Messaging Engineering, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, or Email Security.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Exchange 2016+, Exchange Online, and hybrid environments.
- Experience with Cisco IronPort / Secure Email and Microsoft EOP/Defender for Office 365.
- Strong knowledge of email security, mail flow, routing, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC, and SMTP.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting.
- Good understanding of DNS, network firewalls, and load balancers.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently and effectively in a global enterprise environment.
- Microsoft 365 / Messaging certifications and ITIL knowledge will be advantageous.
