Responsibilities

• Support Engineers and Engineering Manager with drawings and BOMs per customer requirements.
• Model and draw layouts for mechanical, piping, and structural deliverables.
• Check drawings for accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Prepare bulk MTOs and detailed BOMs with minimal supervision.
• Ensure drawings comply with engineering and QA/QC standards.
• Prepare installation procedures for customer submission.
• Supervise outsourcing of design work to 3rd party firms.

Job description

• Support the Engineers and Engineering Manager in providing drawings and equipment BOM as per customer requirements independently.
• The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support the service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in modelling and/or drawings.
• The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be responsible for checking drawings /designs; interface communication, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of the scopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules meets customer’s requirements and Industrial Standards they produce.
• Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and analysis of factual information
• Support the goals and programs established by the management team
• Provide and check drawings / BOM as per customer requirements.
• Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) with no supervision from Engineer.
• Ensure drawings follow the Engineering and QA/QC standards.
• Prepare layout drawings to customer to present the proposed equipment and the function of the equipment.
• Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as piping layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list etc.
• Prepare and compile installation procedure for submission to customer.
• Supervise the outsourcing of engineering design work to 3rd party engineering / design firms.
• Review, as required, vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.
• Provide “Lessons learned” feedback and utilize findings from the process to update tools and
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on data center infrastructure.
• Experience in sheet metals, weldment and large assemblies is preferred.
• Ability to produce drawings/sketches to illustrate design/ideas.
• General knowledge and direct experience with the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centers or mechanical systems and components.
• Experience working with computer-aided design (CAD).
• Fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects
• Detailed understand and experience in piping systems, design, layout, routing, components, and piping specialty items.
• Basic understanding of electrical equipment and system design within data center driving or affecting mechanical scope
