Job Summary
The role of Mechanical / Structural Designer is to support the Engineers andEngineeringManager in providing drawings and equipment BOM as per customerrequirementsindependently.The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support theservice personnel in solving problems bysimulating the problems in drawings.The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be able to workon simple EngineeringWork Request and comply with all departmental Work Instructions andEngineeringStandards.The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be responsible for checkingand approving drawings /designs; interface communication, and ensuring theaccuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety ofthe scopes of work forHyperscale Data Center Modules meets customer's requirements and IndustrialStandards they produce.The Mechanical / Structural Designer is expected toresolve problems by identifying and selectingsolutions through the applicationof acquired technical experience and analysis of factual information.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Designer will support the goals and programs established by the managementteam. These roles and responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:
- Provide and check drawings /BOM as per customer requirements.
- Prepare bulk MTOs (MaterialTake Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) with no supervision from Engineer.
- Ensure drawings follow theEngineering and QA/QC standards.
- Prepare layout drawings tocustomer to present the proposed equipment and the function of the equipment.
- Prepare and complete variousMechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as pipinglayout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings,structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundationsupport details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COGreports, manual valve list, HVAC ducting, instrumentation, flow diagrams, Process andInstrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, handrails /ladders, walkways, and stairs asper OSHA, platform and grating detailed drawings, etc.
- Help in solving problems bysimulating the problems in drawings.
- Prepare and compileinstallation procedure for submission to customer.
- Supervise the outsourcing ofengineering design work to 3rd party engineering / design firms.
- Review, as required, vendordata and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicablestandards.
- Produce report data from modelsand assist in providing necessary design information to Project/Client/Third Party, asrequired.
- Provide "Lessons learned"feedback and utilize findings from the process to update tools and procedures.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Educational :
- Designer should be inpossession of a Technical Certification in the design discipline.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years'experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on data center infrastructure.
- Experience in sheet metals,weldment and large assemblies is preferred.
- Ability to producedrawings/sketches to illustrate design/ideas.
- General knowledge and directexperience with the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centers ormechanical systems and components.
- Knowledge of industrystandards, codes, and regulations, including but not limited to:
- o AISI - American Iron and Steelinstitute
- o ANSI - American NationalStandards Institute
- o ASME - American Society ofMechanical Engineers (specifically B&PV Section VIII, IX, B31.3)

- o PFI - Pipe FabricationInstitute
- Experience working withcomputer-aided design (CAD).
- Fast track design/buildprojects and or multiple significant upgrade projects
- Detailed understand andexperience in piping systems, design, layout, routing, components, and piping specialtyitems.
- Basic understanding ofelectrical equipment and system design within data center driving or affecting mechanical scope.
