Job summary

Mitra Engineering Services PTE LTD is seeking a hands-on Project Engineer in Singapore to own projects end-to-end—from customer enquiry through design, fabrication coordination, to site installation and commissioning.

You'll split time 50/50 between office tasks (AutoCAD, calculations, proposals) and site work (factory walkthroughs, installation supervision, troubleshooting). A strong CAD capability and PPE-ready site experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC/ACMV; pure electrical, electronics, software backgrounds not suitable.
• 3–10 years of mechanical, MEP, ACMV, HVAC, ductwork, ventilation, or industrial process equipment experience; ideally with site exposure to factories or process plants.
• Working AutoCAD proficiency; you will be asked to demonstrate this live at interview.
• Comfortable on industrial sites in PPE (semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, metal fabrication shops, food factories, refineries).
• Hands-on, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Design dust collection, ventilation, and fume extraction systems in AutoCAD (layout, ducting, hood design, filter sizing).
• Conduct customer site assessments by walking operating factories in PPE, taking measurements and identifying constraints.
• Size equipment using established standards.
• Prepare technical proposals, BOMs, and quotations.
• Coordinate with in-house workshop on fabrication and with subcontractors on installation.
• Supervise installation, commissioning, and air balancing on customer sites.
• Troubleshoot performance issues post-handover and recommend corrective actions.

About Us

Mitra Engineering Services is a 30-year-old Singapore turnkey contractor for industrial air filtration — dust collectors, fume extractors, oil mist collectors, paint booths, explosion protection, and centralised vacuum systems. We are the authorised Singapore partner of Donaldson, one of the world's leading filtration brands.

We don't sell off-the-shelf but instead, design, fabricate, install and service for years afterward. Our customers are primarily in the aerospace, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, F&B, oil & gas, and metalworking sectors.

What this role is

This is a hands-on Project Engineer role under our Senior Project Engineer. You will own projects end-to-end, from customer enquiry, through engineering design and fabrication coordination, to site installation and commissioning. Roughly 50% office work (AutoCAD, calculations, proposals) and 50% site work (factory walkthroughs, installation supervision, troubleshooting). If you're looking for a pure-CAD office role, this is not it.

What you will do

What we are looking for

3–10 years of mechanical, MEP, ACMV, HVAC, ductwork, ventilation, or industrial process equipment experience — ideally with site exposure to factories or process plants

Comfortable on industrial sites in PPE (semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, metal fabrication shops, food factories, refineries)

Hands‑on, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple concurrent projects

What you are expected to accomplish

First 90 days

Complete product study across Mitra's full range and the relevant Singapore standards and industry codes

Shadow senior team members on at least 10 customer projects

Study key governmental and regulatory standards.

Build familiarity with our workshop, in-house fabrication capabilities, key suppliers and subcontractors

Months 4 to 12

Independently own end-to-end projects across all major product lines

Build direct working relationships with suppliers, vendors and subcontractors

Develop a track record of accurate costing and on-time delivery

Year 2 and beyond

Take ownership of larger and more complex projects across Mitra's customer industries

Strong Advantages

Prior work with dust collectors, fume extractors, paint booths, oil mist or industrial vacuum systems (Donaldson, Camfil, Nederman, Filtermist, Plymovent or similar)

Experience with explosion protection

HVAC commissioning, air balancing, or testing background

Cleanroom or pharmaceutical facility installation work

Reading P&IDs, isometric piping, and electrical schematics
