Job summary

CRODA SINGAPORE PTE LTD is a site-based manufacturing company on Jurong Island, seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop and implement plans that enhance plant reliability and performance.

You will troubleshoot equipment, lead hazard assessments, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient operations. The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Experience in plant maintenance, reliability, mechanical equipment, or project engineering in manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of pumps, piping, agitators, valves, rotating equipment, and utilities.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills with emphasis on safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor mechanical engineering plans to meet 0–12 month objectives.
• Provide troubleshooting support to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.
• Analyze and resolve multi-discipline engineering issues with guidance as needed.
• Lead or participate in hazard studies, process hazard reviews and risk assessments.
• Support investigations by providing technical input and identifying corrective actions.
• Communicate technical information to stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and regulators.
• Identify opportunities for design and reliability improvements using CI principles.
• Collaborate with the department team and make informed decisions under management guidance.

Job Summary

You will develop and implement mechanical engineering plans to enhance plant reliability and operational performance. Provide troubleshooting support, lead hazard assessments, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor short-term mechanical engineering plans within a 0 to 12-month timeframe to achieve operational objectives
• Provide troubleshooting support to manufacturing assets to minimize equipment downtime and maintain reliability
• Analyze and resolve engineering issues involving multiple disciplines or site activities, seeking guidance when necessary
• Lead or participate in hazard studies, process hazard reviews, and risk assessments to ensure engineering activities comply with safety standards
• Support accident and incident investigations by providing technical input and identifying corrective and preventive actions
• Communicate technical information effectively to internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and regulators to influence mechanical engineering decisions
• Identify and apply opportunities for design, development, reliability, and operational improvements using engineering judgment and continuous improvement principles
• Collaborate with the wider departmental team and make informed decisions on complex engineering situations under managerial guidance

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Experience in plant maintenance, reliability, mechanical equipment, or project engineering within manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or similar process environments
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment such as pumps, piping systems, agitators, valves, rotating equipment, and utility systems
• Troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to safety and detail
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
