Job summary

Croda Singapore Jurong Island is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to drive maintenance, reliability, and project activities across our manufacturing assets. You will troubleshoot plant equipment, lead risk assessments, and work with contractors and vendors to deliver safe, compliant engineering solutions.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering and hands-on experience in a process environment. A collaborative, safety-minded approach is essential to succeed in our global organisation.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and experience in plant maintenance or project engineering.
  • Experience with pumps, piping, agitators, valves, rotating equipment, and utilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, planning and problem‑solving skills with safety focus.
  • Collaborative team player with effective communication with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor short-term engineering plans (0–12 months) to support objectives in mechanical engineering.
  • Provide plant and process troubleshooting to minimise downtime and maintain reliability.
  • Analyse and resolve engineering issues with potentially limited information.
  • Lead or participate in hazard studies, process hazard reviews and risk assessments safely.
  • Support investigations and identify corrective actions.
  • Communicate technical information to internal stakeholders and external contractors.

Who We're Looking For:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Relevant experience in plant maintenance, reliability, mechanical equipment, or project engineering within a manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or similar process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment such as pumps, piping systems, agitators, valves, rotating equipment, and utility systems.
  • Good troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to safety and detail.
  • A collaborative team playerwho communicates effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors,and internal stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor short-term engineering plans, typically within a 0 to 12-month timeframe, to support the achievement of objectives within the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Provide plant and process troubleshooting support to manufacturing assets, helping to minimise equipment downtime and maintain operational reliability.
  • Analyse and resolve engineering issues that may involve limited or unclear information and could impact multiple disciplines, departments, or site activities, seeking guidance where appropriate before implementation.
  • Lead or participate in hazard studies, process hazard reviews, and risk assessments for assigned plant areas, ensuring that engineering activities are carried out safely and in line with site requirements.
  • Support accident and incident investigations where required, providing technical input and assisting with the identification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Communicate technical information effectively and influence internal stakeholders at all site levels, as well as external engineering contractors, suppliers, and regulators on mechanical engineering matters.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and apply engineering judgement, creativity, and continuous improvement thinking to support design, development, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Work under the direction of the line manager as part of the wider departmental team, making decisions in relation to specific and sometimes complex situations, with regular review, assistance, and guidance available.
