Job summary

Seagate Singapore International Headquarters Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Sputter Equipment Development Engineering (SpEDE) team.

You will design, test, and document mechanical systems for transport mechanisms and vacuum processes used in HDD manufacturing. You will work with vendors and internal teams, follow ECO/ECN processes, and contribute to DFM/DFA, reliability, and production transfer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
• Experience with ECO/ECN processes and release of manufacturing-quality documentation.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Experience with high-vacuum systems or heat-transfer applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and document mechanical designs for transport mechanisms, vacuum systems, and process stations, including deposition chambers and substrate heating, cooling, and cleaning systems.
• Take ownership of technical assignments involving applied research and the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electromechanical devices, components, and systems.
• Develop initial concepts for assigned devices, components, or systems and contribute to detailed product design.
• Participate in design reviews and provide mechanical engineering input on design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), reliability, and serviceability.
• Create, review, and release accurate 3D solid models, engineering drawings, and related design documentation.
• Work closely with local vendors and internal stakeholders to support fabrication, resolve technical issues, and facilitate the timely delivery of parts and assemblies.
• Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, verification, validation, and the transition of designs into production.
