About the role

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Matcha/Coffee Barista to join our team at Cheeky Times. This is a full-time position based in Upper Thomson, Central Region. As a Matcha Barista, you will be at the heart of our beverage service, crafting premium matcha drinks and creating memorable experiences for our guests. This role is pivotal in maintaining our brand reputation for quality, consistency and exceptional customer service in the rapidly growing specialty beverage market.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality matcha and coffee beverages and speciality drinks with precision and consistency
• Master the art of matcha whisking and preparation techniques to ensure authentic and visually appealing presentations
• Operate and maintain beverage equipment including espresso machines, blenders and matcha preparation tools
• Provide expert recommendations to guests on matcha flavours, pairings and customisation options
• Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised workstation at all times
• Process payments accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale systems
• Build genuine connections with guests, providing friendly and attentive service
• Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and assisting with other bar duties as needed
• Follow food safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards
• Participate in training sessions and stay updated on new beverage offerings and techniques

What we are looking for

• Previous experience as a barista or in a bar and beverage role, preferably with experience in specialty drinks preparation
• Passion for matcha and specialty teas with genuine enthusiasm to share knowledge with customers
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency in drink preparation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse guests
• Physical stamina to work standing for extended periods during shifts
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple orders simultaneously
• Reliability and punctuality with a professional attitude
• Flexibility to work variable shifts including weekends and peak hours
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices
• Preferred: Barista certification or relevant hospitality qualifications
• Preferred: Experience with latte art or advanced beverage presentation techniques
