Job summary

KYO TEAHOUSE is hiring a Matcha Barista (Full-Time) to join our founding team at 18 Cross Street, Chinatown. The role involves crafting tea beverages, delivering warm hospitality, and upholding our farm-to-cup tea philosophy.

You will rotate through shifts across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays, bringing calm and craft to a busy tea bar while developing your palate and knowledge of high-grade matcha ingredients.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in F&B or café operations.
• Passion for tea and matcha preferred.
• Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Strong hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good communication with customers and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Brew drinks with precision and consistency.

Location: Kyo Teahouse, 18 Cross Street (Chinatown)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Rotating shifts - weekdays, weekends & public holidays)
Salary Range: $2,200 - $2,500

Rotating Shifts Hours: 5 days work week
8:30am - 5:30pm
10:30am - 9:30pm
12:30pm - 9:30pm

As part of KYO's launch, we're looking for passionate Matcha Baristas and Senior Matcha Baristas to join our founding team. You'll play a key role in crafting our tea offerings and shaping the calm, welcoming experience we hope every guest finds at KYO.

What You'll Be Doing

• Brew each drink with intention and consistency, balancing precision with pride in the craft
• Work efficiently in a busy tea bar without compromising on quality
• Stay focused and steady during peak periods, delivering calm, consistent service
• Engage warmly with customers, offering thoughtful recommendations and a memorable tea experience
• Be a tea ambassador - share product knowledge and introduce guests to the joy of tea
• Take pride in maintaining a clean, well-organised tea space - every detail reflects our brand
• Collaborate with teammates and support smooth day-to-day operations, even during high volume
• Monitor inventory and restock mindfully to keep every cup fresh and consistent
• Handle equipment with care - from chasen whisks to blenders, everything has its place
• Show up dependable, positive, and ready to bring good energy into the space
• Uphold KYO's service and brand standards in every interaction

What We're Looking For

• Individuals who are passionate, reliable, and self-motivated - proactive team players who take initiative with care and pride in what they do.
• 5 & 6-day work week, including weekends and public holidays
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in F&B or café operations (tea or matcha experience is a bonus)
• Confident in preparing tea-based drinks with consistency and attention to detail
• Calm, focused, and able to stay composed under pressure
• Able to handle a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks without losing focus
• Works closely with the team to keep operations running smoothly, especially during busy periods
• Good communication skills with both customers and teammates
• Strong sense of hygiene, cleanliness, and workspace organisation
• Genuinely care about service, tea, and creating a good experience for others
• A dependable team player who brings good energy and shows up ready to work
