Job summary

Vitol Asia in Singapore seeks an experienced demurrage and claims analyst to support charterparty and sale contract processes. You will analyze shipping documents, calculate demurrage, review related costs, and negotiate settlements with shipowners and counterparties.

You will build strong internal and external relationships and report positions to Management. The role requires 3+ years in the field, a Maritime or related diploma, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of working experience in demurrage/claims handling across charterparty and sale contracts.
• Tertiary education – Polytechnic Diploma and above.
• Recent graduates with a Diploma in Maritime Studies or equivalent are welcome to apply.
• Right to work in Singapore.
• Analytical, numerate, hardworking and proactive.
• Meticulous with an eye for details.
• Open to embracing AI tools and technologies to drive efficiency in day-to-day tasks.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Able to work in a team and independently.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Analyse charterparty and related shipping docs and compute demurrage and shipping-related claims with shipowners.
• Review charterparty related demurrage and shipping costs claims received.
• Analyse sale contracts and related documents and create/compute demurrage claims with counterparties.
• Review demurrage and sales contract related costs claims received.
• Counter and negotiate settlements; liaise with the internal business as required.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with counterparties and internal teams.
• Assist in reporting outstanding positions to Management.
• Keep abreast of industry developments and legal case law for relevant terms.
