Job summary

FASTSTREAM RECRUITMENT PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an experienced Marine Engines Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in low-speed 2-stroke and medium-speed 4-stroke engines. The role combines field-service troubleshooting with technical leadership and customer support across the region.

The successful candidate will act as both troubleshooter and technical expert, lead critical engine cases, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with clients and vessel teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of direct experience with either 2-stroke or 4-stroke marine engines.
• Hands-on troubleshooting, inspection, overhaul and maintenance of engines.
• Experience with WECS, WICE and/or other 2-stroke gas engine technologies will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with electronic engine control systems such as WECS, WICE and UNIC is advantageous.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills; fluent English.
• Willingness to travel internationally and attend vessels when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field-service teams on complex 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine troubleshooting, overhaul, repair and maintenance.
• Attend vessels for urgent, technically challenging and emergency engine cases.
• Diagnose and resolve complex operating and performance issues involving 2-stroke or 4-stroke main engines and associated systems.
• Lead major repair activities, root-cause investigations and development of repair procedures.
• Provide technical guidance on spare parts, service drawings and engine maintenance requirements.
• Evaluate engine performance and troubleshoot engine control systems, including WECS, UNIC and WICE.
• Prepare technical analyses, recommendations and reports for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Handle complex customer technical enquiries and act as the technical lead during discussions.
• Support audits and identify opportunities for additional service and lifecycle solutions.
• Analyse field experience and customer feedback to support product and service improvements.
• Coach and mentor Field Service Engineers and less experienced technical specialists.
• Support continuous development of technical competence within the 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine organisation.

Job description

We are partnering with a global leader in marine technology to appoint an experienced Marine Engines Engineer, particularly in 2 and 4 stroke engines, based in Singapore.

This is a highly specialised position for an experienced marine engineer with strong hands-on expertise in low-speed 2-stroke engines and medium-speed 4-stroke engines, combining complex field-service troubleshooting with technical leadership and customer support.

The Role The successful candidate will operate in a dual capacity as both aTroubleshooter and Technical Expert, supporting complex engine cases, major repairs and technical enquiries across the region.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree inMarine Engineering, Mechanical Engineeringor another relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years of direct experience working with either 2-stroke or 4-stroke marine engines, their controls and associated technologies.
• Strong hands-on experience in2-stroke or 4-stroke engine troubleshooting, inspection, overhaul, repair and maintenance.
• Experience withX-DF, WICE and/or other 2-stroke gas engine technologieswill be highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with electronic engine control systems such asWECS, WICE and UNICis advantageous.
• Strong understanding of marine engines, propulsion systems and vessel operations.
• Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and resolve technically complex engine problems independently.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Comfortable working internationally and travelling for vessel attendance when required.
