Job summary

Faststream Recruitment Pte Ltd, on behalf of a global marine technology leader, seeks an experienced Marine Engines Engineer based in Singapore to lead field-service troubleshooting and technical support for 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. You will oversee complex engine cases, mentor technicians, and collaborate with customers across the region, applying hands-on expertise with WECS, WICE and UNIC systems.

Fluency in English and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of direct experience working with either 2-stroke or 4-stroke marine engines and related systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience in engine troubleshooting, inspection, overhaul, repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with X-DF, WICE and/or other 2-stroke gas engine technologies is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with WECS, WICE and UNIC engine controls is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of marine engines, propulsion systems and vessel operations.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; strong communication skills. Travel internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field-service teams on complex 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine troubleshooting, overhaul, repair and maintenance.
  • Attend vessels for urgent, technically challenging and emergency engine cases.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex operating and performance issues involving 2-stroke or 4-stroke main engines and associated systems.
  • Lead major repair activities, root‑cause investigations and development of repair procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance on spare parts, service drawings and engine maintenance requirements.
  • Evaluate engine performance and troubleshoot engine control systems (WECS, UNIC, WICE).
  • Prepare technical analyses, recommendations and reports for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Handle complex customer technical enquiries and act as the technical lead during discussions.
  • Support audits and identify opportunities for additional service and lifecycle solutions.
  • Analyse field experience and customer feedback to support product and service improvements.
  • Coach and mentor Field Service Engineers and less experienced technical specialists.
  • Support continuous development of technical competence and best practices within the engine organisation.

Job description

We are partnering with a global leader in marine technology to appoint an experienced Marine Engines Engineer, particularly in 2 and 4 stroke engines, based in Singapore.

This is a highly specialised position for an experienced marine engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in low‑speed 2‑stroke engines and medium‑speed 4‑stroke engines, combining complex field-service troubleshooting with technical leadership and customer support.

The Role The successful candidate will operate in a dual capacity as both aTroubleshooter and Technical Expert, supporting complex engine cases, major repairs and technical enquiries across the region.

Please note that only Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents with relevant Marine Engine expertise will be shortlisted for interview.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Strong hands‑on experience in 2‑stroke or 4‑stroke engine troubleshooting, inspection, overhaul, repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with X‑DF, WICE and/or other 2‑stroke gas engine technologies will be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electronic engine control systems such as WECS, WICE and UNIC is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of marine engines, propulsion systems and vessel operations.
  • Ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and resolve technically complex engine problems independently.
  • Strong customer‑facing and communication skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Comfortable working internationally and travelling for vessel attendance when required.
