Manager, Trade Finance Origination & Structuring
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced banking professional to structure and execute trade and working-capital financing solutions for corporate clients, with a focus on receivables and supply-chain financing.
This is an individual contributor role for someone who can independently lead client financing discussions, develop transaction structures and drive deals through commercial negotiation, credit approval, documentation and funding. You will work with sales and relationship teams to develop financing opportunities, supported by risk, legal, operations and product specialists.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory and Opportunity Development
- Work with sales and relationship teams to assess financing opportunities with new and existing corporate clients.
- Understand clients' business models, trade flows, working-capital cycles and financing objectives.
- Lead financing discussions and present proposals that clearly explain the proposed structure, commercial terms, key risks and implementation requirements.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing financing programmes and increase utilisation.
Financing Structure and Negotiation
- Design receivables financing, factoring and supplier/payables financing structures that meet client needs and funding requirements.
- Analyse financial statements, underlying trade transactions and counterparty exposures to assess transaction viability.
- Develop proposed facility terms, pricing, eligibility criteria, repayment arrangements and risk mitigants with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare financing proposals and credit submissions, addressing questions from risk teams and funding partners.
- Negotiate commercial terms with clients and coordinate financing arrangements with banks and other funding partners.
Deal Execution and Programme Delivery
- Take ownership of transactions from initial assessment and structuring through approval, documentation, onboarding and funding.
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, risk and operations teams to resolve issues and meet transaction requirements.
- Work with product and technology teams to translate agreed financing structures into practical programme workflows.
- Manage transaction milestones, resolve execution bottlenecks and keep clients and stakeholders informed.
- Support programme activation and utilisation, contributing feedback to improve financing solutions and the client experience.
Requirements
- Substantial relevant banking experience in trade finance, receivables finance, supply-chain finance or working-capital solutions.
- A demonstrated record of personally leading corporate-client financing transactions, including structuring, commercial negotiation, credit approval and execution.
- Hands-on structuring experience in receivables financing, factoring or supplier/payables financing, with a clear understanding of financing mechanics and associated risks.
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills, including the ability to evaluate underlying trade flows and develop appropriate risk mitigants.
- Experience working directly with corporate clients and coordinating internal specialists and funding stakeholders to close transactions.
- Ability to explain financing proposals clearly, negotiate terms and exercise sound commercial judgement.
- Confidence managing several transactions independently and maintaining ownership through to completion.
- A degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Relevant backgrounds include Trade Sales & Advisory, Trade Finance Structuring, Trade & Working Capital Origination, Receivables Finance and Working Capital Solutions within banks.
Applicants should demonstrate direct responsibility for financing design and client transactions. Experience limited to transaction processing, documentation support or programme administration will not meet the requirements on its own.
