Job description

About the Role

Lead the implementation of clinical risk management and patient safety frameworks across the organisation, taking ownership of specific programme areas, driving process improvements, and building capability among staff and clinical teams. The role coordinates across departments to ensure consistent application of safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical risk management strategies aligned with organisational objectives, NHG cluster priorities, and regulatory requirements, including maintaining risk appetite frameworks and governance structures.
  • Maintain a clinical risk registry with data analytics capabilities, and drive digital transformation initiatives including automated reporting and data visualisation tools.
  • Prepare and present risk analysis reports to governance committees (QPIC, EXCO, NHG Group Quality), and facilitate risk discussions with clinical chiefs and departmental leads.
  • Lead patient safety adverse event and near-miss management, including promoting incident reporting, investigating serious safety events, identifying root causes, and analysing aggregate incident data.
  • Develop and coordinate patient safety initiatives promoting a culture of safety, including morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical quality reviews, patient safety walkabouts, and safety committees.
  • Design and deliver training programmes for clinical leaders and staff, developing e-learning platforms, simulation scenarios, and workshops, and mentor junior staff.
  • Lead horizon scanning through ECRI reports, international literature, and industry networks to identify emerging global risks.
Requirements
  • Degree from a recognised university.
  • At least 3–4 years of relevant experience in patient safety or risk management, preferably in healthcare or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in statistical and data visualisation tools such as Tableau is a bonus.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, strong analytical ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and meticulous, proactive, and independent working style.

Given that this role involves the review of clinical and patient care processes, candidates with direct clinical background or patient care exposure in medical or nursing will be preferred.
