Job summary

SMT ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced ACMV Systems Technician to oversee daily operations of ACMV, BMS, chillers, cooling towers and related equipment in Singapore.

You will conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, optimise energy use, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards while coordinating with contractors and internal teams on system upgrades.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background or related field experience.
• Proven ACMV systems operations and maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of chillers, ACMV, BMS, AHU, FCU, cooling towers and ventilation systems.
• Proficiency in ACMV installation, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Familiarity with ACMV control panels and electrical components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety regulations relevant to ACMV systems.
• Willingness to perform hands-on and physical work.
• Effective communication and teamwork with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of ACMV systems, including BMS, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, to ensure reliability.
• Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Monitor system parameters and energy consumption to identify efficiency improvements.
• Set up heavy central cooling equipment (water- or air-cooled chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs) to meet requirements.
• Provide technical guidance on chiller operations, pump selections, configurations, and equipment specs.
• Evaluate performance and recommend upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Install, inspect, test, and maintain ACMV control panels and related electrical components.
• Perform wiring, termination, and connection of control devices with accuracy.
• Troubleshoot control panel faults and electrical issues to restore operations.
• Verify control sequences for AHU, FCU, ventilation fans, pumps, etc.
• Test and commission ACMV control panels to meet specs.

Key Responsibilities

System Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee daily operations of ACMV systems, building management systems (BMS), cooling towers, chillers, pumps, and associated mechanical equipment to ensure reliability and performance.
• Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to optimize system functionality and minimize downtime.
• Monitor system parameters and energy consumption to identify and implement efficiency improvements.

Technical Support

• Set up heavy central cooling equipment, including water-cooled or air-cooled chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and duct-connected Air Handling Units (AHUs) to meet operational requirements.
• Provide technical guidance on chiller operations, pump selections, system configurations, and equipment specifications to support system optimization.
• Evaluate system performance and recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Install, inspect, test, and maintain ACMV control panels and related electrical components to ensure proper functioning.
• Perform wiring, termination, and connection of control devices such as relays, contactors, sensors, actuators, and motorized valves with accuracy.
• Troubleshoot control panel faults, electrical issues, and equipment communication problems to restore system operations promptly.
• Verify control sequences for AHU, FCU, ventilation fans, pumps, and other ACMV equipment to ensure correct operation.
• Conduct testing and commissioning of ACMV control panels to confirm compliance with specifications and operational standards.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all systems comply with government regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements to maintain legal and operational integrity.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance data, and equipment warranties for audit and reference purposes.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory submissions and audit compliance.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams for major maintenance projects and system upgrades to ensure timely and quality delivery.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment to verify compliance with specifications and performance requirements.

Required Competencies and Certifications

• Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or related field experience.
• Proven experience in ACMV (Air Conditioning & Mechanical Ventilation) systems operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge of chillers, ACMV, BMS, AHU, FCU, cooling towers, and ventilation systems.
• Proficiency in installation, preventive, and corrective maintenance of ACMV systems.
• Familiarity with ACMV control panels and related electrical components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
• Understanding of safety regulations and statutory requirements relevant to ACMV systems.
