Job summary

Recruit Express Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced System Engineer to manage and upgrade servers, primarily on Solaris, Linux, and Windows.

You will deliver high-level system administration and security support within a 24x7 service environment, lead projects, and troubleshoot complex issues with vendors when necessary.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in managing web/application servers in a Unix/Linux environment.
• Experience with Solaris 11/10 and RedHat Linux 6/7/8; SUN/Oracle hardware knowledge.
• Willingness to be on 24x7 standby for service contracts on rotation.
• Strong diagnostics and rapid problem-resolution skills.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools and incident handling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, upgrade, and manage servers and storages across Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
• Provide system administration and security support to customers.
• Deliver 24x7 system administration and engineering support.
• Lead projects to completion within schedule.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and drive resolutions.
• Escalate cases to vendors (Oracle, RedHat, Veritas) as needed.
• Handle calls and incident tickets via ITSM tool with proper documentation.
• Participate in project implementations when required.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain, upgrade, and manage on a wide range of servers and storages mainly on Solaris, Linux, and Windows platform
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through providing system administration and security technical support to the customer
• Perform system administration and systems engineering support for 24x7 service organization
• Lead project completion within the allocated schedule
• Responsible for problem identification, troubleshooting, and driving technical resolution
• Escalation of cases/faults to vendors such as Oracle, RedHat & Veritas
• Handle customer calls and incident tickets related to Unix servers/services faults, recording the fault through ITSM tool
• Assign with project implementation when required
• Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant working experience managing web/application servers as a system engineer or administrator in a Unix/Linux background
• Experienced in Solaris 11/10, RedHat Linux 6/7/8, SUN/Oracle Hardware skills
• Willing to be on 24 x 7 stand-by for service contract and maintenance services on a rotating basis
• Excellent diagnostics skills and good ability to resolve problems quickly
• Strong technical competence in the fundamentals of troubleshooting hardware/software along
• Hands on experience with Industry standard operational Tools like SPLUNK, NETGAIN, SCCM, BIGFIX, SOLARWINDS will be an added advantage
• Cloud Certifications AWS/Azure will be an added advantage
• Knowledgeable in Ansible, Kubernetes, Dockers & Containers will be an added advantage
