Job summary

Gain City Group of Companies is seeking a kitchen assistant to support day-to-day culinary operations in a busy commercial kitchen. You will assist in washing, cutting, portioning, and basic food prep, and help cook following established recipes and standards.

You will maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and safety, assist with stock handling, and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely service.

Qualifications

• WSQ Food Safety Level 1 certificate required.
• Basic knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients and kitchen equipment.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of local, Chinese and halal cuisine advantageous.
• Experience in a commercial kitchen or F&B environment beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning and other basic food preparation duties.
• Cook and prepare food according to established recipes, standards and portion requirements.
• Ensure food quality, taste, consistency and presentation meet the required standards.
• Maintain high sanitation, cleanliness and safety in assigned kitchen areas.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling and rotation procedures.
• Minimize food waste and maintain proper portion control.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage/handling of ingredients.
• Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas are clean and well maintained.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient food service.
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Chef or Supervisor.
